I just don’t know where to begin. At some point, it must have seemed like a good idea to this guy to pierce his cheek with a pointed skewer on a model boat.
Your friends are supposed to talk you out of things like that, but apparently this dude is as short on friends as he is on ideas for showing off his nice boat.
To make it even stranger, all this is somehow connected to a VEGETARIAN festival, but um, I just don’t see the link there. Clever captions are welcome.

They’re swift-boating vegetarians now?

- Posted by Shawn HendricksSorry, guys. There’s gotta be a better way to plug up that hole to keep food from dribbling out at supper.

- Posted by Neatorama » Blog Archive » Look Ma! I Skewered a Ship Through My Mouth! If you had actually bothered doing some source checking you would’ve found info about the Phuket Vegetarian festival and understood two things, 1) why they perform this festival and 2) that the cheek skewering and other piercing related rituals are only a part of the whole. You can read more about it here, I strongly suggest you do: http://www.phuketvegetarian.com/phuketve getarian-eng/phuketvegetarian-history.ht m
However, I strongly understand not doing any source checking, it kinds of hinders making sarcastic comments about things you don’t understand. To the people who live in that area and believe in the mythos it’s a very important festival, to me belittling that would be no different than a buddhist belittling our celebration of easter or christmas for instance.
- Posted by MrPumpernickelSo it’s a religious hang a boat from your face veg fest!?
- Posted by ToeI love a festival that promotes good hygiene, brightness and inner peace (of ship rammed through a hole in somebody’s cheek).
