I've always enjoyed your writing even though I less keen about intevention than you. This is a first class piece it sums up the strange, contradictory views of left and right. This seems starker in the US than the UK where eveyone's a Keynesian now. Anyway, I wondered about the job creation claim; I think politicians' ability to do much about this is quite limited and that the should be concentrating on long run matters; house of lords reform, tax simplification, (de)regulation, all the boring stuff, I suspect there are similar issues in the US. My point is that politics will not cure the problem we find ourselves in, businesses and households probably have to change behaviour but there are things that the left or right can do to make significant improvements to society.
