Having joined an existing club devoted to football, the late-comer Westminster then wanted the club to play rugby. As an Englishman , I say let Britain clear off and allow the European Union to unite. Civil wars in Europe between 1914 and 1945 killed millions and ruined the continent( including Britain).

north sea oil revenues provided a similar excuse, as susbsequently did the illusion that that financial sector provided a bountiful ‘tax-farm’

perhaps now, 40 years on/late we are just facing the same questions

the economic question is – how/if this society can earn its own living

the political one is that of defining a workable polity
