How can we stop the cyber bullies?

texting.jpgtexting.jpgThe government plans to crack down on cyber bullies who send abusive text messages and emails or post offensive comments and video clips on Web sites.

Ministers say a third of pupils have fallen victim and the problem is growing.

And it’s not just students who are being targeted. Unions say more and more teachers are being bullied and humiliated on Web sites.

Are you a victim of cyber bullying? What can be done to tackle the problem? Send us your views.

I am a victim of bullying - but I have found with experience that the bullies are ill people with a lot of personal problems(especially paranoia). Maybe its the same with cyber bullies. A dysfunctional society creates dysfunctional people.

Yes, i have been a victim and despite reporting it to the cyber cell of a county police department, nothing happened.
The biggest thing that needs to be done is to set standards for websites/online services that can be potentially abused (they should have to log user IP addresses, keeping these logs for a certain number of years etc) and for greater coordination/collaboration between cyber investigators and web service providers. Also, aggressive recruitment to populate cyber divisions of police departments with high quality staff is necessary.

The last bully that I mess with me was in high school. I saw him at the 55th high school class reunion last year and he remembers the beating I gave him in high school. Nobody else messed with me at that point.
I am only 5 ft 9 inches tall, and weigh only 218 lbs. I am also a native american indian by birth, and by inclination.
I do not bully anyone and I taught my children not to be a bully’s punching bag.
As a teacher in all grades from kinder to the senior high school year, I was not bullied by the kids.
I have been shocked to see how many parents were bullied by their children. When my stepson, at age 19, decided to “bully me about” he ended up with all of his stuff on the front porch and the door into the house was locked (from the inside).
That changed his attitude.
Do Not accept a bully as a friend. One thing about the internet, you can see who is sending you what and just don’t accept it. I send it back by forwarding it back to the sender’s email address.
