of course it will. living in B.F.E. I have to travel 120mi. round trip to go to a real store. but if some one didn’t live here you would not have food in your stores.

No way Im paying over $3 a gallon.If it gets to that,I will sell my car and walk!I have a work vehicle and dont really use my car.GAS PRICES will go higher past $4 and its coming,Im going to sell the car and that will also end all my spending and I will not take a vacation again ! So go ahead and make it $4 a gallon ,BUSH ,Im pocketing the money you give me,I am NOT SPENDING IT!So kiss my dam ———

I think $5 a gallon for gas is a good thing. Maybe now all the soccer moms with 1 kid driving a Suburban will rethink what they are doing. Or how about the Yuppie’s owning a full size 4wheel drive truck for no reason will finally get a more responsible car.
i hear it all the time… “I need a large truck”. No, most people don’t. It’s convenient to have one, but you don’t need it. I drive a small, fuel efficient (relatively) SUV with a 4cyl engine. Yeah, I can’t pull a boat or half a soccer team, but it definately gets the job done.
There is the obvious down side to this, higher food prices, higher heating prices, etc, and it’s only going to get worse in the coming years. It’s definately an exciting time and I think we’re witnessing a transition for our country. My grandparents witnessed the emergence of the Car, the airplane, and the dependance on oil in our society… I think we’re witnessing the opposite. We’ll still have cars, and we’ll still have airplanes… but, they probably won’t be fueled by oil.

I think paying almost five dollars for one gallon of milk is absurd.So paying almost four dollars a gallon of gas,since there is much more work involved between drilling,refining,exporting.Maybe people should take a look at the prices of tomatoes,I paid almost five dolarrs for two about two weeks ago.So gas prices look cheap.

Hey you DIMWITS that try to compare gas prices in European countries to Us, gimme a friggin break! Most of those countries are less than the size of Rhode Island, ok?!! It takes all day just to cross Texas!! Besides, they have a lot more public transportation over there, so its not a fair comparison , so get off it !!! IJJIT.

I’ve just been doing my calculations and here in Ireland we are already paying the equivalent of $6.329 a gallon. Does this mean that there is hope for everyone else because of Ireland’s economic miracle? I don’t think so - we are just as hooked on oil as everyone else. The Irish government is currently investing all excess money in roads to keep us competitive but if people can’t afford to run cars then this is blinded forward planning. We should be investing in public transport - so should the States - the train is one jigsaw piece that could help us ride the wave of peak oil that is coming towards us. Surfs up!

GOD Please Help Us….I just realized that in Europe people are paying way much more for fuel and we should be happy the prices are not at $10.00 dollars per gallon. I think we just need to be smart about commuting from work and play. Car-pooling is great for the office. Also I have children and I remember when I was young I rode my bicycle and walked everywhere and scooters were really popular. Today kids demand parents to either buy them cars or drive them to places. I guess the reason is due to safety and the children getting abducted. Don’t get me wrong I grew up in the 90’s I am 29 years old , so you have to consider it wasnt that long ago that everything started to change.. So FAST!

So to answer the question I would say it has changed my lifestyle @ $2.50 per gallon here in Houston TX but yes if it gets to $4.00 per gallon It would be horrible! I would have to find hobbies at home only! If this does happen I am going to either get a Moped or I will turn my application into the Oil Industry to make a living! I dont know if my business would survive, I operate http://www.car–transport.com , a Car Transport business in Houston, our gas bill per month is over 5K which Houston is the OIL CAPITAL of the US…And… We are paying about $3.00 average for a gallon of Diesel fuel and if normal prices hit $4.00 then Diesel wil be over $5.00! Oh please come up with alternative fuel Answer!!!!!!! Thanks if anyone has any suggestions please POST ASAP!!!

Gasoline is up, oil is up, taxes are up, house prices doubled, (now coming down hard) while income was flat since 2001. Yet things looked just fine. The goverement found a way to make people spend by making every think there house is worth doubled then they paid for it by creating cheap money. Everybody felt rich and borrowed way past their means. Now it is over for a long long time. I love how Wall street states the worst is behind us. Guess what, we are in inning one in an overtime game. Most subprime resets do not happen until May 08.

The thing is that here in the US we like to work hard, and when you require heavy equipment to operate a business, you really need powerful engines that burn fuel fast. It is impossible to make a 300-600 Horsepower engine to burn over 10 mpg. Although we are talking about commercial trucks burning no less than 10mpg you could also compare the regulars cars and trucks like diesel trucks and fast cars. I use to drive a Hummer H2 and switched to a Dually and there is not much difference. Our company that operates big rigs
http://www.auto–transport.com utilizes 10 car haulers for auto transport, we would love to see the government offer incentives to big companies for having to consume the excessive fuel in transport. I guess some would say we should be penalized for over-consumption but I see it differently. I think the government should invest in building great bio-diesel or hydrogen fuel engines for commercial truck usage like Canada. There is too big of a demand for the trucking industry to make these highway fuel monsters obsolete, but we require the goods to be shipped on the interstate. I hope we can all work together and make a safer world for the future of our children. I know this sounds crazy but we have to start thinking about why we have the “global warming” problem and such dramatic climate changes… Haloween is coming up and I remember how cold it use to be but now here in Houston it is about 82 degrees on Haloween night. Do you think the UN United Nations together as a team could brainstorm an alternative to this problem? Why not make fuel that is extremely safe for the environment but actually charge the same amount (but less price would be great), at least it would be better. We here in the US have a pollution problem but so does every other country so I think the big picture is for all the governments or countries to come together for once and make a differnce besides fighter over 200 year old problems that obviously cannot get solved by a few nuclear bombs! Well I pray for all of us and I know the fall of man is our fate for the end to come… but I also believe we “man” can make a difference by making the right decisions today, that will benefit our existence.
