People are increasingly turning to brain-enhancing drugs like Ritalin to boost their performance in school or at work, researchers said. And while some expressed alarm over the trend, others embraced the idea, provided the drugs are proven safe.
What do you think? Athletes have been vilified for using performance-enhancing drugs. Is there a difference, or should it be seen as the same thing? Have you taken the drugs, and what would you do if you found your children were taking them at university?

The brain offers a normal amount of performance.
If the brain recieves additional enhancements, it can and will reduce the amount of its normal output.
Alcohol is a strong electrical resistor.

The brain generates more electricty to compensate.
Absent the alcohol, the brain generates to much electricity. The result is an addiction to alcohol.
No, I would not take brain enhancement chemicals. Clearly, however, I would give them to Nancy Pelosi, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Harry Reid,Joe Biden, Charlie Rangel, Maxine Waters, Barbara Boxer, John Kerry, but I would leave Ted Kennedy out of the deal for obvious reasons. The President can make up his own mind, he had experience with some during his high school and college days anyway.

- Posted by sallyWell according to me Acetyl-l-carnitine ALC improves brain function by enhancing the activity of the memory neurotransmitters, acetylcholine and dopamine. There have been many studies which show that ALC improves learning and memory in normal, healthy mice and rats and there are indications are that it would probably do the same for humans.
