How to endure flight cancellation chaos

americanairline.jpgAbout 100,000 passengers have been affected after American Airlines canceled over 1,000 flights. Travelers will endure more pain as the airline says it expects over 900 more cancellations on Thursday. Watch this video on the travel chaos.

Cancellations angered travelers at several airports but Dallas was the hardest hit, followed by Chicago’s O’Hare.americanairline1.jpg

Angry bloggers weighed in. “This must be the single biggest aerial traffic disruption since 9/11, right? And it’s created by whom — American private enterprise and federal regulators,” writes Bruce Sterling.

In additional airline news, United Airlines raised some of its fares.

What do you do to get through the airline and airport delays? Share your tips with the thousands waiting at U.S. airports today.

Divided on Silda Wall Spitzer

Posted by: Leah Eichler

Silda Wall SpitzerSilda Wall Spitzer stood beside her husband, New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, as he resigned on Wednesday amid a scandal over a $1,000-an-hour prostitute. The mother of the governor’s three daughters also stood by her husband’s side at a news conference on Monday where he admitted he had violated his obligations to his family and his “sense of right and wrong.”

The public reaction to Mrs. Wall Spitzer’s stance to “stand by her man” has been mixed at best, New York Magazines notes . Political blog from N. Dakota, “Say Anything” , said it would have paid to see Silda Spitzer punch her husband on the podium.silda-spitzer2.jpg

Others were not as generous. “What’s more disgusting than a lyin’ no good, cheatin, hypocritical, political man? Their wives that stand by looking dumbfounded as their unfaithful husbands apologize to the public. Do these women have no pride?” wrote New York City Moms blog. Dr. Laura went so far as to blame Mrs. Wall Spitzer for the scandal.

She’s not the first wife to stand silently by her husband as he apologizes or confesses. Dina Matos McGreevey wrote a book called “Silent Partner ” about her life with her ex-husband, the former governor of New Jersey, who resigned after announcing he was a homosexual.

What are your views? Can we or should we read much into the private decisions of a wife of a public figure?

New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer has informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, the New York Times reported on its Web site. The newspaper, citing a source, reported he was wiretapped arranging to meet a prostitute at a Washington D.C. hotel last month.

“I failed to live up to the standards I set up for myself. Now I stand to regain the trust of my family,” Spitzer told a packed room of reporters. He said nothing about possibly resigning.

Lactuccino anyone?

Posted by: Leah Eichler

BreastfeedingIt’s widely accepted that breastfeeding boosts a child’s immunity. But do the benefits of consumption translate to parents? It seems some parents are taking the “breast is best” campaign to a new level and consuming breast milk themselves — either drinking it straight-up or squirting it in coffee.

Do you think parents’ enthusiasm for breastfeeding has gone too far? Would you try a lactuccino?

Cloned beef and cabbage anyone?

clonedcows.jpgThe FDA ruled that food from certain cloned animals and their offspring is as safe as other food, opening the door for using the controversial technology in the food supply.

The cloning industry expects that it will be the offspring of cloned animals, not the costly clones themselves, that will eventually provide meat or milk to U.S. consumers. It could take four or five years before consumers are able to to buy products derived from cloned animals.

Would you consider serving cloned meat at your dinner table?
