Those goats are back, honey — get the tiger poop

Feb 17, 2006 11:43 EST

Sometimes the solution to a pest problem is worse than the problem itself. Like when deadly cobras nest in houses in Bangladesh, clearing them of rats as well as domestic pests. One person reportedly had thousands of the slithering things under his floorboards, but no rat problem whatsoever. But I digress. Today’s story is about how researchers think tiger poop just might work as a repellant to keep wild goats, deer and other pests away. You’d probably have to want to get rid of those things pretty badly. Here’s the story

Similar research was carried out in Europe several years back, but with lion poo. The researchers were particularly surprised how well it worked on European deer even though lions have not be predators in the region for several millenia. I bet it’d work for household cat poo too, since they are also feline predators, albeit in a smaller format.
