Addressing some 200 television critics at the Television Critics Association’s annual summer gathering, CBS News president Sean McManus laid out the network’s strategy, which includes sending parts of its newscasts across different media, the New York Times reported in its Monday edition.

The broadcast will be partially simulcast on CBS Radio News. On-demand, extended interviews and a daily update of the news lineup will also be made available over the Web. CBS last year launched a 24-hour broadband news network. Now, they’ll finally have some more programming from its flagship property.

According to the New York Times story, McManus told reporters, “Our goal on Sept. 5 is that whether youre in your car, on your computer, commuting, listening on your cell phone, or, God forbid, at home watching television, that the CBS news will be available to you.

One comment so far

This is such a practical and future thinking idea - it is surprising that this was not implemented sooner - why should one leave one’s computer when not necessary - you can work and view the news at the same time in a separate window
