Fowl play on both sides of Castro debate

Let’s see. Cuban leader Fidel Castro just underwent surgery. Lots of folks in Florida are hoping he will die, and they’re killing animals to make their point.  Over in Cuba, lots of people want him to recover, and to make their point, they are, uh, killing animals.

Very bad deal for the animals, all the way around. It turns out no matter what you think of Castro, you do that voodoo that…. well, here’s the story by our Jeff Franks:dove300.jpg

“..And here to explain the ritual on both sides of the fence is Anita Feuansers. Anita?

Well, Jim, each side of this story has their own way of getting the job done. The Floridians–and all others opposed to Fidel Castro’s well-being–are forcing lit Cuban cigars down the throats of doves. The point, they say, is the toxicity of the cigars is symbolic of the toxicity of Cuba itself. Those pro-health for Mr. Castro, however, are forcing the doves to sit through blooper reels of every speech American President George Bush has ever given, until the doves commit suicide. They message, they say, is telling Mr. Castro through the doves ‘You must stay alive and kick this country while it’s as down as it’s ever been!’
Back to you, Jim.”

Maybe this is why the raccoons in my back yard have disappeared.

Barbaric, unnecessary and utterly pathetic.

The animal sacrifice is used by both camps .The pro-Fidel camp has some Santerian followers (a kind of afro-Cuban voodoo that sacrifice animals to communicate with gods) do it for their leader and the inhabitants of Florida do it hoping that he will share their faith. No matter the side , the birds are loosing.

Cuban leader Fidel Castro did not undergo surgery for intestinal bleeding last week, according to a statement released by Cuban Minister of Health Jose Ramon Balaguer.

In response to a number of wicked lies and other such counter-revolutionary propaganda that is being distributed in a foolish attempt to discredit the Revolutionary Government of Cuba, I will provide additional details regarding this unsavory matter.” Fidel

Why are they killing the poor animals? I hope the precious white dove stays unharmed.
