Conquistador: it’s what’s for dinner

aztec300.jpgIt may stick in your mind from school that the Aztecs welcomed early Spanish explorers, treating them as returning gods, etc.

There is a bit of evidence to the contrary, however. It seems that when some Aztecs invited the Spanish “for dinner,” well…

And here’s a travel tip: When the name of a town translates to “where people were eaten,” you might want to tell Mapquest you’re avoiding the place. Continue for Katie Juhl’s video reportl:

Dude — this was a episode of “Twilight Zone”

Well, it wasn’t exactly like “To Serve Man” so I gave it a slide. But I’m surprised you didn’t notice the Mumbai/Hitler flap was an episode of Hill Street Blues — several episodes, in fact.

Yeah, so I’ve heard. I think that was the month “Who’s the Boss” went on the air so I was, like, understandably mesmerized by something else for a while.

Wow. You seem to have a near-Berkrotian grasp of 1980s television!

A whole new meaning to “I’m craving Spanish food”

If they enjoyed the explorers from Spain, imagine how delighted they were when they discovered Mexicans. Er, I mean, Mexican food.

Gives a whole new meaning to “I’m hungry enough to eat ‘arm of passing stranger!’”

I watched a program on cannibalism and how it originated. People just didn’t eat other people to have food, it was actually a form of terrorism.
It was a way to control people with fear.
According to the scientists that spoke on the program, just to kill someone wasn’t enough. They had to be completely de-humanized. And eating the flesh of the victim was the ultimate act.
Another culture used to eat their deceased loved ones instead of burying them. They believed that if the body of a loved one were to rot in the ground, it was disrespectful. To be cooked and eaten was a way of the flesh living on in the bodies of the living. But of course, when the civilized world moved in, they “thought” it was wrong to eat your loved ones and forced them to bury. Since then the traditional cannibalism ritual stopped.
Then of course you have your weirdos and freaks such as Jeffery Dahmer and sicko-psycho others….
