Broadway is looking to its recent past again, but this time it could be warranted.
Just 10 years after a revival appeared on the Great White Way, it has been announced that the classic courtroom drama “Inherit the Wind” will run for 12 weeks beginning in March. Unlike recent revivals such as “A Chorus Line” and “The Fantasticks” which feature little-known performers, the stars of this revival could justify its return in such a short time. Tony-winning stars Christopher Plummer and Brian Dennehy will star as lawyers battling over the right of a science teacher to educate his students on Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. Doug Hughes, who recently won a Tony Award for his direction of the smash-hit play “Doubt,” has been hired to helm this classic.
