Hey, we won’t know if it will work until we try it…

There is an old lawyer joke about a child who kills his parents and then throws himself at the mercy of the court because he’s an orphan… It’s used as a supreme example of unbridled audacity, and in fact it brings us to one of the best stories of the day.

This guy in Canada is serving a four-year prison sentence, having admitted he hired a hitman to break his ex-wife’s neck so he could get out of paying child and spousal support. It wasn’t a great plan. The “hitman” was an undercover cop, and the ex-wife didn’t get hurt.

So, fast-forward to now. The guy is back in court this week, arguing that he can’t make the support payments. Why? Because he’s in prison. Here’s the story: bars300.jpg

I’m sorry — where is the story about the hitman getting sued for felony misrepresentation?
