A teleconference operator cut off telephone chip supplier Qualcomm during its earnings analyst call on Wednesday. When the operator broke into the umpteenth analyst question with the information that the time alloted for questions had ended, Qualcomm Chief Executive Paul Jacobs said he was happy to take one more.
But the operator, and teleconference technology won the day — Jacobs was not allowed to take the query, although he was given the chance to make his own closing remarks.
Chief Finanical Officer William Keitel later outlined hotspots of demand for Qualcomm’s CDMA mobile technology in an interview with Reuters.
- Demand was particularly strong during the fiscal first quarter ended in December in North America, Europe, South Korea and India. Latin America saw a modest decline as did Japan, he said.
- In the current quarter, he expects strong demand in Europe, Japan, the United States and China. He expects demand in India to be similar to the first quarter and South Korea and Latin America will see modest declines.
