Inevitably, it’s the most talked about product NOT on show at the annual 3GSM carnival currently going on in Barcelona.
Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin mentioned it. Orange CEO Sanjiv Ahuja did too. But at the world’s biggest mobile industry trade show the subject itself was conspicuous by its absence.
Apple’s recently unveiled iPhone is nowhere to be seen at the Fira de Barcelona, teeming with glitzy stands from every phone maker and equipment vendor on the planet. It’s definitely not Apple’s style to share the limelight. But then it’s hardly hurting.
In June, Apple has said it plans to introduce the iPhone in the United States, exclusively through Cingular for $499, assuming consumers agree to a two-year contract. No word on who and when will offer the iPhone internationally.
With Apple, no news is also news.
