Hell and caffeine…

Pressure on Romney to firmly address Mormon faith

romney220.jpgIt bans alcohol, caffeine and tobacco, maintains that no one goes to hell, the dead can be baptized and God speaks through living apostles and prophets such as the church’s current president, Gordon Hinckley.

In the recent article about Romney you said that Mormons maintain that no one goes to hell and they ban the consumption of caffiene. Both comments are incorrect. They do believe that people go to hell. They abstain from coffee, tea, alcohol, tobacco, and ellicit drug use. Just because they don’t drink coffee or tea does not give you permission to make a blanket statement on caffiene. They drink caffinated beverages (except coffee & tea)and consume chocolate.

Please correct this mistake. There are many who read and respect your work as I do and need factual information to be represented to the public.

We corrected the story on both points. Our initial references had reflected how those tenets of LDS are often popularly interpreted, even among many of the Mormons we’v interviewed, but we were wrong under a strict reading of LDS doctrine: GBU Editor
