This has got to be the mother of all reduced charges.
The man who drove a T-34 tank toward police lines during last year’s anti-government protests in Hungary, as seen in this dramatic photo, is no longer being charged with assault on police. Now, officials say, he will be charged with theft and “traffic violations.”
It turns out, the big question is whether he stopped the tank short of the police line voluntarily or because he ran out of gas, and nobody can prove one way or the other. Heck, I’m just impressed that in a typical street crowd there was somebody who could drive the thing.

London has increased it’s congestion zone to include Budapest.
In an effort to cut down on traffic congestion, the mayor decided to increase the Daily Fee from $16 to $50 to what Londoners refer to as ‘Yank-Tanks’.
The fine for not paying the daily fee for ‘Yank-tanks’: apparently just that… Being yanked from your tank.
- Posted by FraggalicousTanks and other tracked vehicles are very easy to drive, specially on paved streets at low to medium speed. Little things like curbs and signs don’t bother them and many tanks have a turing radius smaller than a Mini-Cooper. When I was in the military, in Texas and learning to drive a ‘track’ the instructors had us chase jack rabbits. We never caught any but we scared a few.

Protest? Sheesh! Without the government, where would your tank have come from?
