A resident crosses a bridge shrouded with fog at a park in Beijing February 21,2007. A dense fog covering Beijing cut visibility to a few dozen metres and paralysed flights in and out of the national capital on Wednesday, disrupting China’s week-long Lunar New Year celebrations.  REUTERS/Claro Cortes IV

What a wonderful gift you made to us readers with Claro Cortes’ photo of the moon bridge, a real tour de force of printing, good details in the shadows and perfect composition, a keeper for your thousands of readers. With so much ugliness happening in the world, there are still moments of unspeakable beauty, even as we wait for winter to pass. Thank you.

Great, artistic shot, timed to perfection.

And so nice that it got praise: when I opened up the page I was expecting a rant along the lines of “Looks like visibility is more than a few meters to me” and “How do you know that is a resident!”

Thanks. Yeah, isn’t that a nice shot? And it got the play it deserved, too…

I was expecting a rant about how the “liberal press” was trying to make China look good.
