Ten years after Jerry Seinfeld last made an appearance for NBC at its upfront presentation at Radio City Music Hall, he returned to the stage on Monday to hype his prime-time comeback.
This time around, however, his contribution to NBC’s schedule looks far different than his blockbuster half-hour comedy show that he walked away from when it was still the top-rated program on television.
Seinfeld has created 20 live-action short comedy sketches for NBC that he says will air “somewhere, sometimes, somehow” during the 2007-08 TV season on NBC.
Seinfeld’s “minisodes” or “TV Juniors” — which is what he’s calling them — are shorts inspired by his work on the upcoming DreamWorks animated film “Bee Movie“, which hits the theaters this fall.
“Can you believe I’m here?” Seinfeld asked a crowd packed with advertising and network executives, before cracking a few jokes about the new world of TV.
“Sometimes I feel the whole industry just packed up and joined the circus,” he said.
