Ten Commandments for cars: no vroooom! at the inn…

Dear Blog Guy,
I have a theological question. I have a new Porsche 911, a real chick-magnet that shows how cool I am. If some guy cuts me off in traffic is it a sin to run him off the road and give him the finger?

Oh boy, are you ever speeding toward hell! I need to refer you to the Vatican’s newly released Guidelines for the Pastoral Care of the Road, containing its own Ten Commandments covering everything from road rage to rude gestures while behind the wheel. And by the way, the document takes a very dim view of those who consider a car “an object of personal glorification.”

Oh no! Well, what CAN I do in my car? Does it cover that?

Yes, praying aloud with your passengers is encouraged. Our Philip Pullella reports:

Well, at least they’re Catholic. Some religions might have us on the side of the road praying for forgiveness for every bug that splatters on the windshield.

Next we might have the Pope blessing planes and ships and a guideline on flying and sailing from the Vatican…

Was it like when Oprah gave away Caddies to the audience or did they have to bring their own?

I wondered where Benedict’s campaign slogan, “I’ll be the fastest Pope in history.” came from.

I’m not sure if he likes the cars or the White Smoke issuing from the tires.

Little known fact: the popemobile’s seats are crafted from rich, Corinthians leather.

I wasn’t going to Heaven anyway.

The guidelines that were just released also cover the treatment of prostitutes.

I’m not sure how putting road rage and streetwalking into the same pronouncement makes sense, but perhaps the cardinal takes a dim view of both.

Obviously, Charlene, you’ve never heard confession.

I just thought it was hilarious of them to make 10 commandments for motorists. That’s the reason why I made my own 10 commandments as parody.
