HOUSTON, June 28 (Reuters) - Craig Biggio collected his 3,000th career hit and Carlos Lee hit a grand slam home run with two out in the 11th inning as the Houston Astros beat the Colorado Rockies 8-5 on Thursday.

Get your headlines correct!!! The Astros beat the ROCKIES in MLB. Not the Cubs. The Cubs didn’t even play yesterday. Please correct your headline ASAP and give the Cubs the respect they are due.

A huge Cubs fan

Understandably, several readers caught that one. We corrected: GBU Editor

REUTERS REPORTERS ALL UNDER THREE-FEET TALL!!

That headline would be as accurate as “One-third of Americans abuse alcohol: survey”. After all, every Reuters reporter, at some time in their life, was (or is) under three feet tall. Your headline clearly suggests that one-third of Americans currently abuse alcohol.

Lynn, you’re very observant in pointing out how Reuters loves to take the sensational route, not necessarily the honest route, when deciding how to carry out the editing/publication of news stories.

Some times it seems like they’re editors are taking the general idea of a story (i.e. some people are alcoholics) and just going ahead with any elaboration or falsification they dream up (i.e. everyone is currently an alcoholic), as long as their manipulation of the facts casts fear, uncertainty, and doubt on the reader.

I’m still waiting to hear back from a Reuters member regarding questions I issued. Frankly, I’d be surprised if they respond.

This baseball one is amazing — how could a sports columnist be that far off-base?
