aargh. I can’t wait for Harry P to die. Then I’ll be saved the annual chore of having to read these mammoth tomes just so I can pretend I know what my kids are talking about.
I despise everything about Harry Potter. Mostly I can’t stand the author who claims to have written these dreadful books whilst nibbling on jam sandwiches in an Edinburgh cafe. I’ve never heard of a cafe which sells jam sandwiches for a start, nor would any cafe owner welcome the custom of someone who sat there all day without buying anything. The books are horrible middle class nonsense, please let this be the last one ever.
Is it time for Harry Potter to be killed off?
This question assumes that “Harry Potter” is a fantasy series which JK Rowling has pulled out of thin air. It most certainly is not!
Although the superficial details of the story undoubtedly belong to JK Rowling, she has openly admitted there is a pattern to the books which enables one to predict the end. This is what Rowling said in an interview:
“If I talk too freely about whether I believe in God I think the intelligent reader, whether 10 or 60, will be able to guess what’s coming in the books.”
I have studied the books very intensely, as well as JK Rowling’s interviews. To my absolute amazement, I have found that there is a deeply spiritual foundation on which the story of Harry Potter is built. Hidden underneath all the excitement, mystery and magic is a powerful spiritual symbolism which tells a timeless and universal story that resonates in the collective unconscious of humanity, explaining the books’ popularity. This story and this symbolism can be summed up in the term: “alchemy”.
Let me cite part of an interview with JK Rowling in 1998, just before Book 3 was published:
“I’ve never wanted to be a witch, but an alchemist, now that’s a different matter. To invent this wizard world, I’ve learned a ridiculous amount about alchemy. Perhaps much of it I’ll never use in the books, but I have to know in detail what magic can and cannot do in order to set the parameters and establish the stories’ internal logic.”
I would very much like to invite your readers to visit a website, specifically designed to explain the alchemical symbolism in Harry Potter: http://harrypotterforseekers.com.
On the Book 7 Page: http://harrypotterforseekers.com/book7.p hp, I have listed my predictions. I have found 11 alchemical clues which really make it quite obvious where Book 7 is headed. And what is that? Is it time for Harry to die or not?
The answer to this question is both “yes” and “no”.
Harry will die but he will come back, just like Jesus, Orpheus, Horus and other liberators! The whole purpose of Harry Potter is to prove that there is a way to vanquish death permanently.
What evidence is there? Just look at the basic story:
A prophecy is made that a baby will be born who will change the world. The baby is born and a star appears to announce his birth. When the king of this world hears about the birth he tries to have the baby killed, but fails. The child grows up in wisdom and in stature, and in favour with God and man. He performs miracles at a young age. But as he grows older he knows he will have to meet his arch-enemy: Satan.
You all know that story – that’s the story of Jesus. But it’s also the story of Harry Potter. In Harry’s case the star is Sirius, who becomes his God-Father. (In ancient Egypt Sirius announced the birth of Horus). At a young age Harry saves many lives, wins battles against dragons and giant snakes, and dodges death by Voldemort time and again. The world loves Harry; that’s why you’re reading this!
The story is basically so similar to that of Jesus we can easily see that it will end the same way as Jesus’ story. Just as Jesus died to save the world, so Harry will lay down his life for the wizarding world. But just as Jesus rose from the dead after three days, so will Harry.
How will Harry do this? My “Book 7″ page which goes into this very deeply, with many predictions, based partly on a 1616 publication called “The Alchemical Wedding of Christian Rosycross”, on which very much of “Harry Potter” is based.
To give you a clue about what Harry will do in Book 7, consider this quote by JK Rowling in 2000: [You cant reverse death is] a given. Without it the plot would fall apart, though in Book Seven you’ll see just how close you can get to the dead.”
To back up my belief that I have discovered the spiritual foundations of Harry Potter, I would like to cite another quote from an interview with JK Rowling that I’ve found on Internet:
“Rowling said she couldn’t answer the questions about the book’s religious content until the conclusion of book seven.”
To put it bluntly: “Harry Potter” is not a fantasy story but a symbolical spiritual journey leading a seeker to the germination of his divine potential (Lily) in the heart. Gradually the world will awaken to the glorious spiritual energy radiating from the septology and the wisdom of its teachings, which will open up for mankind a spiritual movement based, not on the authority of churches, doctrines and mouldy manuscripts, but on the innate divine potential which lies asleep in the heart of every seeker.
“Harry Potter” will change the world!

what a pair of sad ppl you are, Harry Potter brings joy to many many ppl if you two don’t like Harry Potter fine but dont be rude and nasty there is noed
i love these books. they are seriously works of art. when i heard of the seventh comming out i literaly jumped for joy and began crossing the days out on my calender. if harry potter dies i will cry long and hard. please J.K! don’t kill him!!
I am looking forward to the last book, but not nearly in such a cynical manner. All good things must come to an end, but I hope Harry isn’t the means to that end. Anyone who has a head full of sense hopes that good will prevail, and Harry is the epitomy of the fight against evil. I hope Harry wins.
I would hate to see Harry die! He has become a household name in the United States. Parents are enjoying not only reading them to there kids, but simply reading them themselves. Why on earth would anyone want such a champion of good to disappear? There aren’t enough “good people” for kids to look-up to. They need (we all need) someone who is willing to fight for what is right and good in this world. Long live Harry!
I love all the harry potter books. I am simply addicted to them. I hope that harry does not die because that would just put a damper on the whole series. I mean he has already suffered so much already. losing his mother, father, godfather, then dumbledore in the last book. I would really like for harry to end on a happy note. I dont really want hermoine or ron to die either. I would rather Rowling make it an insignificant charatcter like harry’s love interest Cho, or some of the more recent characters Tonks or mad eye moody. I wouldn’t mind though if malfoy or snape died. I would actually find that very appropriate. I’m just bummed that this is going to be the last book, because they are so interesting, they leave you hanging on to every page. Once I start I can’t put one down I finished thew last book in 3 days!! it would be nice if rowling continued the series for harry and his friends….lif after hogwarts!!
J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter is the best thing that has happened to a generation of children who are being raised not by their parents in a wholesome environment, but by TVs and video games because parents are too ‘busy’ to raise the children they brought into this world.
J.K. brings a lovely fresh breath of creativity, adventure, healthy perspective, and lively intelligence-generating fantasy to a world full of children who are sadly lacking much of what they should be enjoying in this soul-destroying overpopulated world we live in.
I think J.K. will be one of the view authors who will be truly remembered and loved for generations to come, like the wonderful Dr. Seuss! Her true genius will only fully be realized and appreciated when this current generation of young ones become adults, and our future leaders and parents.
J.K. has done a service to this world that few realize, and perhaps she does not even realize it either. I wish her all the very best for the future. And yes, I am not embarassed to say that I am an avid fan, and grateful mother of a 10 yr old son who has dyslexia and who would not have made the incredible progress in his reading skills had Harry Potter not been introduced into our world. Thank you J.K. for encouraging my son, and a whole generation of children, to be true readers again. Children who enjoy reading books, what a concept in this day and age!
Thank you for turning children away from the mind-numbing TV shows and violence generating video games through your wonderful HP books. We owe you a debt of gratitude. I hope you will continue writing for children.
i learned to read by the harry potter book, they where the first books i ever read! I want to say THANK you J.K. Rowling, for a beautiful set of books that inspired me to learn to read and keep reading. I can’t tell you how much your books have blessed me. Thank u again!
I love the Harry Potter series. I think that it would be tragic if harry dies. I have been reading these books over and over again until the next book is released. I beleive that J.K. Rowling is a magnificent author who has brought laughter and tears to millions of readers worldwide. I would love if she continued the series but if not, continue writing for children. She is to children and young adults, what steven king is to mature adults. A GREAT WRITER!
I do not think the series should end. I am very upset about this. J.K has brought me to a place i could never go in real life and i have enjoyed it so much. If it wasn’t for her, i would possibly be some grumpy teen like the rest going on about how i hate books. She has fueled my imagination and tought me there is more to a book then just pictures. She has done a lot for everyone and i wish she could do more after book 7.
Thank you so much J.K and the fans that supported her.

One poster here seemed skeptical that JK Rowling wrote her first book in a cafe, saying that no cafe would let someone sit there all day without buying anything. Really? Ever been to a Starbucks? Or any coffee house, for that matter? In my city you can’t get a seat at any of these places because of all the people sitting around with their laptops, doing homework or whatever for hours and hours and hours, and I guarantee you they don’t buy much either.
Harry Potter has had his day and it is time for him to move on. I never liked him from day one but accept that for many young people he has become something of an Icon. But for me he is just a Great Steamimg Pudding!!!
Killed Off?
Sounds rather drastic. I do think that Harry will die, but it might be a question of necessity rather than a means to the end.
It will be an interesting – and hopefully enjoyable – adventure to read the last book to find out what does happen in the end and also perhaps why it has to happen the way it does.
Whether Harry dies or not should not be the penultimate question. THAT should be will JK Rowling write other books that are equally as captivating as the Harry Potter series.
I simply love the harry potter books and the characters. J.K Rowling i a creative genius! I truely hope Harry is not killed off in the final book. Either ways the books and the story wil always be memorable for me. I am 19 and i hav grown up on these books. The story is almost real to me and i cant wait for the final book. Though I will be sad that there wont be more books. I jus hope harry lives.
Harry Potter has come a long way and for them to kill him off in the last book personally would be in bad taste after all the people who have died through each of these books and his parents who never got to see him live would just defeat the whole story completly. I have always looked forward to reading each book and was just furious with the last because of the unexpected death of one of the most favorite all time characters he really made the movie. I am really excited to see what kinds of new twists and turns this next book will bring us and what kind of ending will come about whichever i will be sad to see this series end!
J.K. Rowlings Harry Potter books have encouraged millions of children/teens around the world to read and enjoy reading. I really hope Rowling keeps Harry alive so more young people will have the chance to become addicted to these amazing books.
The Harry Potter series, whether you believe it good or bad, has had a lasting effect on this generation of readers. No series of books has ever had this effect on the reading “public” and it will take a monumental effort on the part of any other author to repeat this phenomenon. It really doesn’t matter where or how J.K. wrote the series, the simple fact of the matter is, it has been written, it has been read.
We might remember that a similar series, the “Chronicles of Narnia” by C.S. Lewis, had its main character killed off in a train wreck in the final book. That hasn’t dampened its continuing popularity. Why would the death of Harry Potter do the same?
Yes. Patrick thanks for spoiling the end for me. Maybe next time you might want to put a spoiler tag for me. I never got to read the books and i was looking forward to it.
Thanks again,
Riku.
I used to be a librarian, and Harry Potter has helped foster a generation of readers. The movies help ignite interest in the books, and it’s all good. As to the question of Harry Potter dying and coming back to life; remember, it’s fiction and can be whatever the author chooses. I choose to believe that Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead–he’s the only real person to do so. That’s my opinion and I am entitled to it. Everyone else must decide for themselves. Harry Potter is entertaining fiction, and should be seen as such. Nothing more, nothing less. Enjoy the books and the movies, and live your lives according to your own beliefs…
My grandson was reported by his teacher to be unable to advance from the second grade level of reading. Then I took him to see the first Harry Potter movie and he wanted so much to read the book for himself that he advanced two grade levels in reading without the aid of his teacher.
He also developed a philosophical streak that surprised his mother, as he is an athlete and is more likely to be trying to bounce a soccer ball higher than the second floor balcony above than speculating on life and death. “Is Snape a good guy or a bad guy?” he asked me. I told him that maybe Snape didn’t know the answer to that yet. He was astonished to hear that being good or bad was something you could choose for yourself; at school they said “You are a bad boy” or “He is a good boy” and he just assumed that was something like “you have brown hair” that you could not change. (He also asked me what gremlins looked like and I told him that since they were imaginary, they could look like anything you wanted them to. I got tired of that conversation a long time before he did.)
Harry Potter and his friends come from such a mixed background of races, creeds, cultures, family styles and general expectations that any child can find someone to identify himself with among them.
But it has always struck me that what the Harry Potter stories are at heart are the fantasies of an abused foster child. Because these stories are just what you would expect from a child who was made to sleep in a closet under the stairs, wear his cousin’s castoffs, and slave for ingrates.
I was in third grade when I started the Harry Potter series. When I picked up that first book, little did I know that I was changing the course of my life. Ever since I read Harry Potter, I have loved to read. Every book is a new opportunity and I cherish that! Thank you JK Rowling, but not only for that. I am a teenage aspiring author, inspired by the Harry Potter series. When I doubt myself, sometimes I’ll think of Harry Potter, and I pick up that pen again. I know the journey is hard and tough, but in the end you have somethind extremely worthwhile.
I hope that Harry doesn’t die, but you never know. I personally think that either Ron or Hermione will die, probably sacrificing themselves or something like that (but believe me, I’m not saying I want that to happen!) Although Harry says that he isn’t going back to school, I really hope that he does. The Harry Potter books would not be the same if he didn’t go to Hogwarts!
Thank you JK Rowling, for giving me my all time favorite books and more importantly, for encouraging me to live up to my full potential.
Riku Don’t worry listen to that guy I can fully tell you that what he said is not the absolute ending, As opposed to the HP series and even LOTR, The chronicals of narnia actually have SEVERAL DIFFERENT Main characters.
And to the guy who went on and on above about relgion and potter, The chronicals of narnia have already pulled off the Jesus storyline and many other relgions too, HP is no Jesus and JKR isn’t dumb enough to end her series off with a resurection, that really would be controversial.
I didn’t read the potter books till last year when I could read them all in a row, they are very good but I’m sorry for some of you that have ow been waiting almost ten years for the conclusion, Great Books great writing.
Riku Don’t Listen to that guy*
I don’t have anything against the books but I do think it’s pathetic when people go crazy and camp out for them to be released. If Harry Potter makes children happy, who are we to take it away from them, JK. Rowling is to these children what Enid Blyton was to the previous generation……..That being said there is so much quality literature out there that is being ignored for craze books like The Davinci Code and other mediocre literature
I absolutely love the Harry potter series. They are books that I can read over and over again without getting bored. They are simply amazing and I don’t know how someone could come up with that. I’m sad for the series to come to an end, I would have liked to know what happeneds to Harry and his friends once they leave Hogwarts. But I will enjoy reading and rereading a series that is exciting, and a series that I grew up with. I know that for generations people will be reading and reading these books. Thanks JKR! She made me want to read! Plus she’s an amazing writer!
I have basically live off the Harry Potter books. I started reading them when I was about 6 or 7 and have been reading them for over 4 years now. That should give you a clue about my age. But just because I have been reading them for four years, it does not mean that I took that long to read them. I simply read them over and over. I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan and although I have read the books over and over, I still find them as magical and exciting as the last time I stayed up all night reading in the dark.
It is July the fifth and it seems like FOREVER until the 21st which is when the new book will come out. But it’s really only 16 days! I really cannot wait but the only sad thing is, I will be at school when it comes out!
So now, to the point.
I read in a magazine that JK Rowling said that two of the main characters will die in the last book. She also admitted Harry could be one of them. She quotes ‘I have to say, two die that I didn’t intend to die.’
All my friends and myself have slightly different opinions on which two characters these will be. This may be, but we all agree on one thing.
Voldemort must go.
It’s sort of obvious that Harry will die, as why else would you stop bothering to write the series? Ummm, hello? reality check? You don’t just stop the series because the bad guy dies. You stop it because the main character dies! I mean, wouldn’t it suck if the last paragraph was something like, ‘And Harry knew, that there could be peace in the world, peace of the kind where wizards could be free to leave their houses without having to worry about the dark lord. And it was all thanks to him.’
I mean, BORING!
The harry potter books are written with a high level of class which shows how wonderful the writer is.
I will definatly cry my heart out at the end, for two reasons:
1. It is the end of an era- no more looking forward to Potter books.Oh well, at least i will still have the movies.
and 2: I know its gonna be Harry that dies.
These books took me on adventures, made me laugh, made me ry, and made me stay up all night reading. I know I speak for many people when I say, They have been the greatest thing since sliced Bread.
The guy who wrote all that stuff about alcchemy and whatever is sort of weird. don’t bother reading all his stuff.
Thanks for reading my comment.
Sorry I wasted, like, ten minutes of your life with my endless drivel. No, wait, make that eleven minutes. I have one more thing to say:
HARRY POTTER ROX MY SOX!
lol cya all l8r
Howdy y’all. My heart sure would be broken in two easy pieces if Harry were to perish. Down in the south, we all wish for more wizards and do-gooders as We have had enough of the evil-doers and deciders who run this country. We need Harry to light our way and light the countryside so that no more people get shot in the face by our brave and greatly skilled hunter, VP Cheney.
Harry Potter gets some people to read. That’s good. No one complains that Steven King wrote too many novels.
Book are fun. If you can’t have fun reading Harry, you don’t have a good imagination.
And yes, Harry has to die, that would be a perfect ending. Dies to save the world.
I think Harry has overstayed his welcome in British cinemas for a while now. The new movie is just over-kill. The novels are rubbish, the films are even worse and the franchise from it is absolutely rediculous.
Ross Wilson: Why must you be such a muggle? Just because you can’t find your way to Platform 9.75… Silly muggle. Tricks are for kids-at-heart.
If you want to know how the series ends: Solve Et Coagula.
It’s as much a parralell of Jesus as it is of Quetzalcoatl, Horus, Mithras, Superman, or any other Boy Who Lived? Am I being vague? Read Hans Andréa’s comments again.
As my brothers would say, “Mischief Managed!”
hey guys!!! well i absolutly looooove the harry potter movies! they ROCK!!! i would be very very sad if harry was to die.
P.S. i also want Harry to get with Hermine
My theories:
It really shouldn’t even be a question on people’s minds whether Harry will die. This is a children’s book, first and foremost, for children who identify with the protagonist. Rowling is not going to kill the sole character in whom her young readers have invested such hope. That’s my opinion. Also, Harry is a h—-, or his scar is. You know what I mean. Part of Harry will die–the part that is Voldemort. Harry will live–unextraordinary, without parseltongue or any other power Voldemort gave him when he tried to kill him. He will be just another ordinary kid, with few real special talents, who saved the world. That is the lesson kids will take away from the story–the ordinary can do extraordinary things. That’s what I’m hoping, anyway! (-; (Also, if someone is going to rise from the dead, it will be the phoenix, aka Dumbledore.)
Harry Potter won’t die.
My belief is that the real ‘hero’ of the final book is Hagrid, I think he will bite the wand in sacrificing himself for Harry.
he was there from the beginning protecting Harry. He is capable of a lot more than people expect, as has been seen in previous books and he was with Dumbledore throughout.
So, its Hagrid, Voldemort and Snape who perish.
Methinks.
harry potter has changed forever what reading a book has meant, that is obvious when u c youth being glued to it.JKR has suceeded in bringing a tv generation back to books…forthat she deserves applause..her book is meant for a generation who have grown with harry potter…soon like lord of the rings or sherlock holmes the world will b divided between those who have read harry ptter and those who have not…good luck jk.
I sure hope he dies. It would be a nice end to a really lame series.
