It’s the Great Tower of China!

Dear Blog Guy,
The two places in the world I most want to visit are Paris, France, and Hangzhou, China. I know you’re a worldly guy - help me decide which I should do first!

I get that question a lot, and now there’s a happy solution. You see the famous tall metal monument in this picture, and the familiar Frenchy architecture and fountains? They’re all in China, right outside Hangzhou, so now there’s no reason for you to go to France at all!

Don’t ask me why this stuff was built here, but it looks like they’ve copied it perfectly, I would guess right down to the Mona Lisa and the Jerry Lewis films. I’m not sure about the food, but heck, how different can a local Chinese breakfast be from buttery warm croissants and espresso? Here’s a slideshow, so you can see more:

The lesson: when playing no-limit Texas hold’em don’t go all in with your national monuments.

But seriously: that rather prominent and oddly-situated structure (c) doesn’t get a mention in the caption? Can you pass this along to the GBU editor?

And satellites.

Never mind.

On the plus side, maybe now we’ll see art tour packages touting the ‘Chinese Louvre.’ If it’s anything like the French museum, it should contain marvelous masterpieces of art and fine jewelery donated, plundered or embezzled from all of the lands under Chinese sway as well as Chinese citizens themselves.

This is also the filming location for the new movie Like Lead for Iron starring Johnny Dep.
