Australian heart-throb Heath Ledger committed what many would consider to be fashion suicide on the closing night’s award ceremonies in Venice. The strictly bow-tie-and-tuxedo affair was obviously lost on the actor, who turned up looking more like a gentle
man of the road.
He wore a black hat, dark shades, a shabby, “distressed” dark jacket and waistcoat, a yellow T-shirt underneath. It got worse. Ledger also sported a pair of knee-length black shorts, red-and-white-hooped socks and a pair of dark dress shoes. Oh, and he was carrying a back pack.
“I’m in my pyjamas. I didn’t realise I was coming out,” he explained to a glamorous interviewer before heading into the theatre for the award ceremony. But that seems unlikely, given that he went on stage to accept an award on behalf of Cate Blanchett, his co-star in “I’m Not There”, with a prepared speech to deliver on her behalf.

“Glamorous interviewer”??? Is this a news report or a Jackie Collins novel?
