Retailer Kmart is unveiling a new private label bed and bath collection and refreshing its Martha Stewart Everyday product line in an effort to make its home decor products stand out.
The chain, a unit of Sears Holdings, says its new Abbey Hill line features bedding with a classic traditional look and feel (see picture). The bedding sets, which include a comforter, pillow shams and skirts, are priced as low as $70.
The retailer’s Martha Stewart Everyday line has been expanded to add items such as higher-count thread sheets and towels in a wider array of colors.
“We’re changing about 60 percent of what’s carried in the department,” said Bill Stewart, Kmart chief marketing officer.
Sears Holdings is looking to sharpen its marketing in a bid to lure customers and try to reverse slumping sales at its Kmart and Sears divisions.
The Kmart offerings, which officially debut next week, join a crowded field. Retailer Macy’s this month began selling its exclusive Martha Stewart Collection, which includes bed and bath textiles, cookware, housewares and holiday decor. Kohl’s is also selling a line of apparel and home goods named for designer Vera Wang.
