Where DO the great ideas come from?

January 3, 2007

This one is just way too easy. From London, news that the Beefeaters, the guardians of Britain’s historic Tower of London, are appointing a woman for the first time in their 522-year history. The story goes on to remind us that the unit’s ceremonial dress is “a distinctive scarlet and gold tunic, white ruff, red stockings and black patent shoes.”  Hmmmmm. And it took them 522 years to think maybe a woman could wear that costume? Here’s the story:beefeaters.jpg  Beefeaters dressed in ceremonial uniform leave after a Order of the Bath ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London, May 17, 2006. REUTERS/Toby Melville
