The desire to improve one self is one of the things that has made the American dream so great, but also so dangerous

People are more willing to undergo cosmetic sugeries these days than ever before only because they have the mentality that by looking good, you are better able to get ahead in life.

It doesn't help that there are countless articles published about studies showing that prettier people are paid higher in salaries, score better at interviews, etc.

If you notice in China, there are reports that ladies are even going to extremes such as having a voice surgery for a sweeter voice just to score at an interview! This is absolutely over-the-top even though I have to agree that its a personal choice at the end of the day.

Trickle-down cosmetology: this goes hand in hand with economic giants and political leaders in America wanting to make themselves look good at any cost, as long as other people are paying for it.
