Changing China

Giant on the move

Getting his head into the Games — quite literally

July 13, 2008

olympic-flags.jpgWhile most Olympic supporters are happy to wave their national flag or maybe paint their face in their national colours, one Chinese man is going a bit further — sticking over 200 miniature flagpoles into his head.

Wen Shengchu, a 58-year-old doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, says the flags represent competing nations and his hope for world peace.

In this photo he stuck over 200 acupunture pins into his head which took about two hours but ahead of the opening ceremony – –  August 8 — he plans to spend about 18 hours sticking 2,008 needles into his head which would out-puncture the 1,790 needles that earned him a place in the Guinness World Records in 2004.

I’ll stick to a flag, thanks.
