i agree wholeheartedly with "Asher". Phelp's cause was assisted by having events closely stacked together- and the fact that if you view history, there's been a whole bunch of repeat champs and multiple event winners and medalists throughout swimming- due to the nature of the sport. if there was a 80,120,140,160 and 180m sprint and a 4x100, 4x200 and 4xmedley in t&f then usain wouldve won a load too.
Phelp's effort was great no doubt, but the chasm between Bolt, and the fact that every human born attempts to run fast, puts him in a much tougher grade. Bolt's performances- even prior to the games put him at the number one athletic freak spot. Phelps is clearly second.

"Not Michael Phelp's territory"??

You've got to be kidding (unless you mean that Phelp's territory is at a lower level than that of Bolt's).

Phelps may have the apparent numerical/statistical advantage.

Bolt's efforts though are in a class of their own.

Three contests. Three wins. Three world records.

A perfect record. It doesn't get better than that.

Step aside Phelps, the biggest star of the '08 Olympics was Usain "Lightning" Bolt.

Simply Phenomenal!

I believe this is a once in a lifetime performance, one the world may not see again for a really long time. And its not just Usain's effort, but the combined effort of the entire Jamaican team.

Such a tiny lad of an island slew the mighty giants of the world and stands atop the pile with no equal.

Simply Phenomenal!
