Eto’o, Hazard and Ba give Chelsea win over 10-man Spurs

LONDON (Reuters) – Chelsea jumped seven points clear at the top of the Premier League with a 4-0 win over 10-man Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday thanks to a poacher’s goal from Samuel Eto’o, an Eden Hazard penalty and two late Demba Ba strikes.

Fifth-placed Spurs played the last half-hour with 10 men after French defender Younes Kaboul was sent off for bringing Eto’o down in the penalty area and they were guilty of some woeful defending.

No friendship with Drogba for 90 minutes, says Mourinho

LONDON (Reuters) – Chelsea will find it strange to be up against their Champions League-winning hero Didier Drogba in Wednesday’s clash with Galatasaray, said manager Jose Mourinho.

While the London club’s players and backroom staff will maintain their friendship with the Ivorian before and after the match, they will be fierce rivals during the 90 minutes of the last-16 first leg tie in Istanbul.

Mourinho to hang on to Luiz in January

COBHAM, England (Reuters) – Jose Mourinho will keep faith with David Luiz despite persistent rumours of a January move away from Chelsea for the maverick Brazil centre back.

Radwanska fights back to make a stand for the seedings

LONDON (Reuters) – Agnieszka Radwanska kept the bookmakers happy by justifying her seeding to beat Tsvetana Pironkova 4-6 6-3 6-3 on Monday and reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

The Polish fourth seed proved too strong for her 76th-ranked Bulgarian opponent and last year’s runner-up is the highest ranked woman in the last eight.
