Republicans battle in tight southern primaries
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (Reuters) – Republicans Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich faced off in a pair of high-stakes presidential primaries in Mississippi and Alabama on Tuesday, with polls showing a virtual three-way dead heat in both states.
The contests are critical for all three top contenders in a volatile Republican White House campaign that already has featured numerous surges, collapses and voter mood swings.

Georgia on his mind, Gingrich fights in own backyard
ATLANTA (Reuters) – Only a month ago, Newt Gingrich was atop the Republican presidential race. Now he is struggling for a win even in his home state of Georgia as his campaign stakes its future on the Super Tuesday primaries.
Two polls out of three in recent days show Gingrich running a close race in the state with either Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum, who is making inroads with the large number of evangelical Republicans in Georgia.

ORLANDO – First lady Michelle Obama craves normalcy sometimes. The woman who has seemingly endless options living at the White House loves it most when she can hang out and just be “Meesh” to her family and friends.
Obama, who realizes her life will get even busier leading up to the Nov. 6 election, said she tries to get away from the “bubble” created by security and media at the White House and be as much of a regular person as she can.
