California finds new strain of swine flu

April 21, 2009

The California Department of Public Health is alerting health-care providers that two children in Southern California, a 10-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl,  have been diagnosed with a strain of swine flu that has never been seen in the United States.“Although both of these children have fully recovered, we are investigating the illnesses and working to identify any additional cases,” spokesman Mark Horton said in a statement.”The California Department of Public Health will continue to work closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health departments to gather as much information as we can about these swine flu cases,” he said.A preliminary analysis showed that both patients had been infected with swine influenza A (H1N1) viruses, which are different from the strain identified in a 1976 outbreak.   The source of exposure has not yet been identified and individuals who came in contact with the two children were being interviewed and tested.Health care professionals were being advised to be aware of the new strain of swine influenza when treating anyone with flu-like symptoms who has been around pigs. The CDC says it documents only one swine flu infection every one or two years but has seen that number grow to 12 just since 2005, possibly due to better reporting.Cases are typically related to close contact with infected pigs in places like barns and livestock exhibits at fairs. Neither of the children diagnosed with the current strain said they had been in proximity to pigs.

we had similar simptoms like on march it started with my husband, he ha vimiting , diarhea, he had fever and was unusually tired. From one day to another he was totally fine .Of course he spend the whole day he was sick vomiting. two days later it struck me the same way. i spent two days instead of one , well almost 3 throwing up. The only things i could eat was boiled apples. the last day, when i recovered i noticed my baby girl starte with diarhea and throwing up , but with her it only lasted one and a half days. After that two dasy passed and since we felt fine we thought our son was lucky not to have gotten sick. to our surprise he got it too . with him it lasted 2 days as well. We blamed it on the weiners we ate. We bought some mixed weiner , beef chicken & pork, and ate them with eggs and me and my husand as late night hot dogs. That is the only thing we ate in commo that could explain our symptoms. Now i wonder if we could’ve gotten that flu….

President Cheney and Swine InfluenzaWhy is the central government making such a fuss about swine influenza? And before that the H5N1Chicken Influenza ? And before that the Duck Influenza A? They are telling us, if they don’t immunize our people, we might have another 1918 type epidemic. Horse feathers! In 1918 we had no antibiotics to treat the secondary pneumonia and the bacterial pleural emphyema that were the real killers back then. Today we do. Readily available, effective antibiotics and the physicians and surgeons who know how to use them are the reason 1918 has not been repeated!I find it ironic that it was the central government’s “experts” Dr Anthony Fauci and Dr. Julie Gerberding who capitulated to the demands of “President Cheney.” And disallowed patients and their personal physicians from being able to voluntarily immunize against smallpox. During the run up to Cheney’s phony war against Iraq. Cheney didn’t want some (extremely low incidence) of smallpox adverse reactions to spoil his little gift to the military industrial complex.Except for the military, there’s been no smallpox immunization program in the United States since 1972. For you see it is the loss of the herd immunity to smallpox that has left us highly vulnerable to smallpox biological warfare. And in the event of a smallpox attack, no Fauci-Gerberding crash smallpox immunization is going to save us.If you want to do something for the American people, Dr. Fauci, pull your head out of the sand, and go back and undo the smallpox trap that you and Dr. Gerberding, on the orders of President Cheney, unwittingly, set for the American people. It’s for the people and their own physicians to decide re: smallpox vaccinations, carried out in a timely and orderly fashion.Listen! A biologic warfare smallpox attack on the American people, who are rapidly losing their herd immunity, is the real threat. If you don’t believe me just ask the American Indian who, unlike the Europeans, had no herd immunity to smallpox!George Meredith MDVirginia Beach, VA

In your article, you stated ” He is the first person in Northern California known to be sick with the disease that has killed 149 people in Mexico.”This is what causes widespread panic – unjustified panic. Only 20 or 26 cases of death in Mexico have been confirmed today becing caused by the swine flu. The others are still being tested and are SUSPECTED.Yes now that people are aware of this flu, they know to go to doctor if they have symptoms, but the panic the media causes is distasteful.

Here we go again, this current media frenzy just goes to show how, shallow, irresponsible and totally immoral the present day media is. If anyone else tried to sell something with as many lies and half-truths in as the western media they would either be locked up or at least out of business!! The worst part is how many people believe this rubbish. How I well remember flying in a 747 in 1.1.2000 with only 17 other passengers!!Fear is the only thing that the media seems to be able to peddle, but of course the “public” demands to know…BS!!

I saw a link to a tshirt where someone is trying to make money on this flu epidemic by being “funny”. I don’t see how anyone would think this is funny when so many of the news articles (though not this one) have cited deaths already in Mexico. There was almost nothing else on the tshirt’s website (named “morebusted”) so it looks like the whole purpose is just to make a buck from the hoopla over this flu. It’s too bad such people can’t make an effort to help solve the problem instead of to try to cash in.
