Maharishi Mahesh Yogi steps down as head of meditation empire

January 29, 2008

British stamp of “Sargent Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” 2006Now here’s a flash from the past — news about the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The guru, who became internationally known when the Beatles journeyed to India to learn meditation from him during their psychedelic rock phase in the late 1960s, is now 91. He has just stepped down as head of his worldwide organisation promoting Transcendental Meditation.

His work is done and now he’ll be concentrating on the field of silence and dedicating himself more to pure knowledge rather than administrative matters,” said Benjamin Feldman, a close aide.

Read all about it in this report by Emma Thomasson, our chief correspondent in the Netherlands, where he now lives.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, this is to you, when i was young i tried so hard to do everything perfect, people always looked down on me, as if my gift was bad, so i learned to block the world from myself, i retreated so far into myself, i was blessed with a speical ability in music, and art, i was a genius of some sort, it was almost as if i could control the flow of music, as i grew older, i started to relaizing my own thoughts were prevelant in others work months and years after i thought these things, i started to feel as though i was a major influnece in the world, but thought myself to be crazy, it wasnt until december when i turely thought that God had touched me, i started to care, something i shouldnt have, i trusted the wrong people, and i lost my gift on my own birthday, i too have retreated into silence, as it is the only thing that calms the soul, i asked for the world to see, and they did, please, my friend reply to my view, i am lost now, and in deep confusion, there are very few i can turn to, i hope that you may be one, i have faith you will find what you are looking for, as it is trying to find you.

Maharishi Manesh,
so active at the age of 91 is a prime example of what meditation can do for us. I feel inspired by this man!
