There are two unwritten rules about conversion that even the most insane of Catholic clergy will remember:-

i) Never publicize your conversion, except among family members. If that is good enough to stir up sentiment, think about the globe.

ii) Never diss or slander your former religion, no matter what has been done. If you're a true Christian, frustrations with past associations are to be suppressed and possibly, put behind. The joy of baptism and accepting is Christ brings us far from all these sorrows but it seems that he was baptized in fear and skepticism. Apparently not in the case of this man.

Without denying the RIGHT of every Religion and Individual to CONVERT out of FREE WILL, as a Christian from the Third World surrounded by people of other Faiths including Muslims, I must say that this PUBLIC and HIGH PROFILE ACT of the Vatican is TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE, IMPRUDENT and INSENSITIVE for the following reasons:
* It is INCOHERENT with Benedict’s call for PEACE on Easter Sunday as it is PROVOCATIVE to say the least, whether intended or not, due to the ‘baggage’ connected with Allam. Benedict is NOT WALKING HIS TALK !
* It REINFORCES Osama’s contention(at least for his audience), whether we agree or not, that Benedict is involved in a New CRUSADE against the backdrop of all the recent events in Europe,Asia and the Middle East.
* It shows UTTER IGNORANCE of the Vatican’s advisers and so called ‘ARM-CHAIR EXPERTS’ of the Pastoral Situations OUTSIDE OF THE WESTERN WORLD that serves to do MORE HARM to Christianity than any Good. Probably they are happy to see more incidents like the CHALDEAN ARCHBISHOP killed in Iraq.

It is interesting to note that the Vatican’s Inter-Religious Dialogue In-Charge was kept in the dark of such an important event as far as his ministry is concerned. That makes one wonder: IS THERE MORE THAN WHAT MEETS THE EYES ? ARE THERE HIDDEN FORCES TRYING TO INFLUENCE a BELLICOSE CATHOLIC RELATIONSHIP WITH THE MUSLIMS ? IF SO, WHICH ARE THESE FORCES – Religious ? Political ? Or Both ? There is ONLY ONE GROUP OF RELIGIO-POLITICO FORCES, having interests in the Middle East, which can benefit from continued TENSIONS between the Christians and Muslims.

IRRESPONSIBLE ! IMPRUDENT ! INSENSITIVE VATICAN and WESTERN THEOLOGIANS ! GET OUT of Your secure, cozy Palaces and then have the guts to ‘EVANGELIZE’ and PREACH PEACE !
