		<description>with all due respect to the scholar his interpretation of the pope&#039;s motives vis a vis the jews appears to me to be apologetic and slanted, not critical and dispassionate. so yes i can still say that the pope was not saintly when it came to his duty to speak out. does that make him pro-german or anti-semitic? let&#039;s just say it does not make him anti-german or pro-semitic - and given the resulting mass murder, it makes him complicit. there just is no other way to read the historical record with any honesty.</description>
