i've been told that islam is a political system in and of it's self. you speak of mutual respect, yet muslims do not respect freedom of speach or religion. your own survey said that 90% of egyptians were in favor of freedom of religion yet 84% thought that a muslim converting should be put to death. how is that freedom of religion? also you say terror is politically motivated. i agree but there is also islamicly motivated terror. did you see some ahmadis were beaten to death in indonesia? a 14 year girl was lashed to death in pakistan due to local interpretation of sharia. how is it's politically motivated to kill theo van gogh? why did the ayatollah put a bounty on rusdie's head when he was already in charge in iran. i think your focus on 9/11 is misplaced, the scary thing about islam is islam its self, [8.12] When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you, therefore make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.
[8.13] This is because they acted adversely to Allah and His Apostle; and whoever acts adversely to Allah and His Apostle-- then surely Allah is severe in requiting (evil). as an agnostic, you all are more scary then the christians, i agree with ghandi when he said, "i like your christ, i don't like your christians they are so unchrist like". but i don't see christian going around killing people for blasphamy. i don't understand why i can't see my comments. could someone email me if they see this... mmalzahn@ymail.com

first let me say that i watched your video about your survey and i was greatly disappointed in gallup. it seemed to be more an opinion/proaganda piece than a poll? is there somewhere to view the raw data? the spin reminded me of fox or msnbc. also, i'm confused, because i've had several muslims tell me that islam is a political system in and of it's self. i see some ahmadis where beat to death in indonesia? that seemed religiously motivated. 14 year old girl lashed to death in pakistan because of the locals interetation of sharia? what is the political advantage of killing theo van gogh, trying to kill cartoonists? the ayatollah was already in charge of iran, why put a bounty on rusdie? what does the koran say about the meccans/pagans "cut off thier heads"? from what i've read of the koran, it seems quite violent? just got a copy of "the message of the quran" translated and explained by muhammad asad, perhaps that will shed some light on this religion? but on the surface it seems less than godly. forget about "people of the book" did you ask the muslims what they think of agnostics? i look forward to an open and honest dialouge on the issue.

What I wonder would Dalia Mogahed make of these research results?

I can appreciate they are from rival organisation but one that is highly regarded.

Pew Global Attitudes Survey 2010 shows that in seven Muslim majority countries most Most Muslims want stoning for adultery, amputation or whipping for theft, and death for apostasy! And around a half want gender segregation in the workplace.

These things are abhorrent to non-Muslims.

How are they not “religious"? How would she take religion out of that equation?

OK, so what do you propose to call people of exclusively Muslim faith, from many nations, who engage in terrorism against the west and even against other Muslims?
