Dustin Hoffman may be a Hollywood star, but at home he is just another embarrassing parent — getting in trouble for trying to set his son up with actress Natalie Portman.
While promoting “Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium,” which also stars Portman and is released on Friday, Hoffman, 70, lamented his failed attempt.![]()
He said he first met the 26-year-old actress when he saw her perform in “The Diary of Anne Frank” in New York in 1997.
“I did a very bad thing, which was I called up my son in Los Angeles and I said ‘I got her’ and he’s hated me ever since,” Hoffman told a news conference, laughing.
“But I put him on the phone with Natalie Portman and he said ‘Dad, don’t pimp for me anymore, please.’ I didn’t heed the advice, it’s one of my faults,” he said. “She’s a lovely girl, I’m sad she’s not my daughter-in-law.”
