Wow... what whiney, grumpy responses we have so far. At least the Oscars are voted on by people who know how hard it is to make a film from scratch unlike the Golden Globes which are given out mostly by people who haven't a clue what a diopter is or what it's like to have you 12 sequences in the second Act when you only need 6!
For fun, my predictions are the delightfully un-Hollywood, Ellen Page for Juno, the remarkable Diablo Cody for Juno, Atonement for best score (anyone notice the typewriter percussion hints at the ending of the story?) Javier Bardem for the creepiest bad guy to hit the screen in years, Daniel Day Lewis for best actor, and There Will be Blood for best picture. (Yeah, my favorite is Juno... but There Will be Blood was intense and Oscar likes intense films)
Lighten up folks and have fun this weekend!

The falseness of America will be shown to it's maximum, when false smiles, false praises, the undeserving winning Oscars and,I understand,Jon Stewart's jokes, will be put on our TV screens.
What else is on this weekend?

The only predictions i will make are that the headlines will go :-
An actress for the dress she was wearing and an actor/actress for using their acceptance speech as a protest against some 'injustice'.
