Who could forget it? Tom Cruise, jumping up on talk show queen Oprah Winfrey’s couch and proclaiming his love for Katie Holmes in 2005. Some thought Mr. Cool had lost his cool. Others thought it was a rare and tender display of human emotion from an A-list Hollywood celebrity whose personal life is shrouded in mystery.
Whatever the outcome, three years later Cruise is headed back to Winfrey’s couch. Cruise will be interviewed by Oprah on May 2 from his home in Telluride, Colorado. A statement from the “Oprah” show says he will discuss “his family, his
life and the future.” Then, on Monday May 5, he is headed to Chicago and Oprah’s studio where he will tape a new show celebrating 25 years of his Hollywood films since his breakout role in “Risky Business.”
No doubt, millions of viewers will tune in to see if Cruise cooks up any wild displays of affection again. We’ll be watching, too.
(Note: the picture above is not a photo of Cruise on Oprah’s couch but is a recreation Cruise jokingly displayed a few weeks later when he appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”)

He might do the CODE*RED! “SUMMERSALT!!!!” on Oprah’s! couch! Who knows what he’ll do! I really can’t wait to see them both on Oprah Show! I love Tom Cruise & Oprah!
- Posted by StreetpoochFabulous! How fun! I love the raw enthusiasm and living of life. I will definitely be watching!!!
- Posted by judyThe man who is Tom Cruise is a mockery of humanity. I have not come across a person who can contrive such garbage in an instance and still have women swoon at his feet. Do you honestly think that a guy like that would for one moment consider the average women intersting?! He isn’t about sincerity or celebrating life, he’s about remaining at the top of Hollywoods A list and he will DO and say and BE anybody you want him to in order to remain there!!
As people we need to really start to get our heads out of your soap opera dreamy idealisms and start to commit to things that are of substance in life.
- Posted by MarieWhy is Tom Cruise in the limelight? His behavior is completely erratic and I really don’t care about how he feels about his wife, Katie Holmes. I also don’t care about his cultish “religion” or his baby being a reincarnation of their leader, L. Ron Hubbard. I think he is a media whore who is a maniacally high-achiever who needs constant attention.
I used to live in Boston and me and a friend of mine were stopped on Newbury Street by one of the followers. He lead us to their headquarters and we took “personality” tests. I finished mine very quickly and was lead into a “viewing” room, where I watched a documentary about the history and philosophies of of Dianetics. While I was watching, I noticed these quick flashes on the screen that I was completely aware of, but I thought that these were supposed to be subliminal messages that I am sure helps for them to get new members.
When the movie was done, I waited for my friend, who was still taking the test. I saw that two of the members were talking very seriously to my friend, telling him that he needed them in order to live a successful and better life. My friend got reactive and we left. I later found out why it had taken so long for him to finish the test: he had written the opposite of how he had felt. I shared with him my experiences during the movie and we both were really disturbed by the whole process.
I think that Tom Cruise is trying to gain more members through his Oprah appearances. I had seen a clip from an interview on YouTube where he was talking about Dianetics in a way that seemed obsessive and creepy. It was laughable and unbelievably ridiculous.
I think that it is a mistake for Oprah to have him on her program again. It doesn’t make her look credible and she is bound to get bad press for entertaining such a clearly unstable person.
- Posted by JesseI agree with Jesse, that Tom Cruise is a wacko, and just ‘gets off’ on being in the limelight. He always has that smurk on his face. I don’t see what appeals to other women about him. He’s goodlooking, but not a very good actor, in my oppinion. There’s a goodlooking guy in every neighborhood, who’s as goodlooking or better looking than him, so I don’t know what other women see in him. He seems so ‘into himself’.
Also, about that Scientology stuff…..back in the seventies, my sons and I moved into an old house. The previous renter, left a poster about Scientology on the wall. It was like a flow-chart or pyrimid thing. It gave me the creeps. Tom and Scientology are spooky!!
- Posted by MaryI live a few miles from the Scientology headquarters in Clearwater. You need to send a film crew to show the zombie like young folk who walk from huge fortress like buildings to building wearing there “uniform” of rank. Tom Cruise is a creep and so is John Travolta and the rest of the Hollywood Scientology malitia. I am trying to be fair and watch the program but he is only trying to salvage his failing career and it is not going to happen. He supports a known Cult. It is not a religion. They just want to get everything tax free. Thankyou I personally know people who have lost small fortunes to Scientology paying for mental health and growth (knowledge) issues.
- Posted by JoannaI am not sure how Tom Cruise made it to 2008. He is lost and does not know who he is. It is also possible something happened to him as a young child. He needs to deal with his past. It is easy to see who he is. He wears his soul on his shoulder. This is why he is still involved in Scientology. Go find yourself Tom Cruise!
- Posted by James S. Klich III was curious about Tom Cruise’s latest appearance on Oprah, so I watched some of the second show. After about 10 minutes I was completely convinced this is purely a PR stunt to try and put himself back into the publics good graces. I am disgusted by him and disappointed in Oprah for trying to help him out. He’s still a narrow minded maniac if you ask me.
