Fashion Design TV show
“Project Runway” got off to a cracking start for its new season Wednesday night, swiftly sorting out the good, the bad and the just plain ugly among clothing designs that featured way too many tablecloths and shower curtains in its Season 5 premiere.
Even oh so polite Tim Gunn, the show’s star along with Heidi Klum, could barely restrain his horror at the number of contestants who opted for the easy way out in the grocery store challenge by choosing to make outfits out of tablecloths, shower curtains and garbage bags.
”I think the judges are going to say you guys are a bunch of slackers,” Gunn said, dismayed.
And indeed, Gunn was right. Stella, who threw her outfit together in the last few minutes after complaining all day about the ”ugly, cheap-ass garbage bags’ she had selected, only narrowly avoided getting “Auf’d” by Heidi.
It it was Jerry’s white plastic shower curtain horror raincoat topped off with yellow plastic gloves that really freaked out the judges. Judge Michael Kors said the dress underneath the coat looked like “a handiwipe gone wrong”. But when Nina Garcia termed it “what you wear when you’re killing someone” you just knew it was curtains for Jerry.

THIS SHOULD BE AN INTERESTING SEASON…..

- Posted by Dr. Carla Perezthe trash bag lady was the one that should have gone
the cups should have won!
- Posted by kimJerry was on Make Me a Supermodel and the models had to wear his clothing line on that episode. The designs were hideous. Dude doesn’t know fashion at all.
- Posted by DMy fav was the blue plastic cups. It took imagination for that. I would never have thought of that. The vacuum bag was good too. Can’t wait for next week.
- Posted by Alicethese contestants had many years to think what would they do if sent to the grocery store -even I have thought of it- … I’m sure mr. plastic cup wasn’t a spur of the moment thought. The table cloth contestants could’ve prepared better.
- Posted by JulyDuring one of his interviews Jerry said he wanted to be taken seriously as a designer and he made fun of people for using produce, vacuum cleaner bags and other things. He said those were things he threw in his trash can. THAT WAS THE F***ING CHALLENGE! He’s a tool.
- Posted by EmilyHave any of the new designers on PR5 seen previous seasons? The judges give constructive remarks and by the 5th season we all know what to do and not do. Trashbags lost for Daniel in season one. Austin won with fresh produce. I don’t understand why all of them went for the easy cloth like material.
- Posted by PennyPennFor me it was a toss-up between Jerry and garbage bag lady. I think they kept her b/c she is more of a character. What about the diaper look??? That poor model. Should get interesting.
- Posted by SusanWhy pick on the nice guy. I admitt the raincoat was weak but I think Jerry left too soon at least he had style. The trashbag lady should have left because I think that trashbag dress is all she is going to give us this season for shame project runway!!!!!
- Posted by sherrythe trash bag taped-up dress was insult to the viewer’s intelligence; no thought went into that outfit; at least the white raincoat ax murderer outfit had a theme going on and some application behind it. I think the wrong person was sent packing too soon
- Posted by diThe primary function is to protect the table from water marks, food stains, however they also serve as decoration, especially place mats made from lace or silk, or designed for holidays. In restaurants they can advertise menu items, specials, and local businesses. They may also have games for children.
