heather.jpgalan.jpgDenim brand G-Star Raw used its New York Fashion Week show on Thursday night to raise awareness of the U.N. Millennium Development Goals.

Actors Heather Graham and Alan Cumming started the show by walking the runway reading the Millennium Development Goals — eight social and economic benchmarks set by the world body for nations to accomplish by 2015. They include reducing poverty levels, increasing universal education and fighting the spread of AIDS.

Following G-Star Raw’s traditionally theatrical catwalk show, which used special lighting and a moving runway, guests were encouraged at the after party to record a digital message for their heads of state in support of the goals.

Among the celebrities attending the event at The Armory on Manhattan’s Upper East Side were “Entourage” star Adrian Grenier, stylist Patricia Fields, model and TV host Tyson Beckford, music entrepreneur Damon Dash, actor Josh Lucas, “Ugly Betty” star Eric Mabius and actress Mena Suvari.
