Kevin Costner finds his country music groove
Actor Kevin Costner has gone country.
After scaling back his movie career to about one film a year, the Oscar-winning director of “Dances With Wolves”(1990) is about to release his first album, building on a 20 year history of off-screen music making with a number of bands.
His first album, called “Untold Truths” is a country music collection of 12 songs all written or co-written by Costner and fellow members of the band, Kevin Costner and Modern West.
The first track “Long Hot Night” is available for download immediately and the album will be released on November 11.
Costner, 53, was one of the hottest film actors of the late 1980s but has struggled in recent years to replicate the success of hits like “Field of Dreams” and “the Bodyguard”.
His latest movie, the political comedy ”Swing Vote”, took only $16 million at U.S. box offices despite heavy promotion and fair reviews.
No word on whether Costner plans to switch careers, but the band plans to tour later this year and in 2009 to support the album before his next movie “The New Daughter” comes out in March.

I’m happy there are 12 songs on this November 11th. release. I have his first CD which is just a 4 track, but he has re-recorded all 4 of these songs, it seems, on this 12 track.
“Long Hot Night” is on mine, as is “Every Intention” which is the song that “Untold Truth” comes from. I’m not complaining too much, at least there will be 8 songs that I don’t have in full at this time. 7 if “Superman 14″ is on it too.
I’ve been waiting for the release of a full CD since I got the first trial one.
Good Luck Modern West and I’m anxious for “Swing Vote” to come out on DVD. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Kevin shines in roles like that.
Thanks,
Sandy
Kevin Costner cannot sing! His voice is strained and awful to listen to. The band is pretty good (real musicians), while Kevin strums his guitar like he knows how to play, which he doesn’t. His singing career will fade quickly and his 15 minutes of fame as a singer will eventually turn to embarrassment. I expect David Letterman to start a rock band next week. Stay tuned.
I think you are “GREAT” I love all the movies that you have ever played in! And to see you on stage singing “That’s even better! Keep looking good for us ladies!
Kevin you are great I have every movie that you are in and I will buy all your music. Thanks for going country.
You have always BEEN MY FAVORITE ACTOR……we don’t care what others think. You go good-looking.
