But should First Lady Michelle Obama have agreed to pose for the style bible so soon after Barack Obama’s inauguration, and at a time of severe economic crisis?
The Obamas have generated the kind of media coverage more usually given to A-list movie stars than politicians (not counting French First Lady and former model Carla Bruni-Sarkozy).
Obama’s mix and match, designer and chain store style, has boosted the U.S. apparel industry and been emulated by American women around the nation.
But do Americans want their First Lady to be a fashion model, or appearing in a magazine that advertises luxury shoes, jewelry, make-up and clothes at prices well beyond the pocket books of most working Americans?
Michelle wore her own clothes for the eight-page Vogue interview and photo-shoot. But was it a wise decision to agree to it?
