“Ice Age,” “Public Enemies” ranked by movie fans
In its second weekend in U.S. theaters, action-packed “Transformers” knocked out its competition at
box offices, raking in $42.3 million. It squeaked by animated family film “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,” which had a U.S. haul of $41.7 million, and the weekend’s other new entrant, 1930′s gangster movie “Public Enemies,” ($25 million) starring Johnny Depp as the legendary bad guy John Dillinger.
Critics were mixed on “Ice Age,” and many liked “Public Enemies,” but movie fans all know that critics and everyday moviegoers often disagree. So, we went out to Hollywood Boulevard again on Sunday to get a sampling of what was on people’s minds. Click on the video below.

I have been to Public Enemies, its really good and Johnny Depp being in it makes it even better!
I agree with Lois, Public Enemies is absolutely recommendable.
I’m always interested and mystified by people feelings about stuff like this. I can’t recall the last time there was a feature release that made me say, “Hey, I need to get out and see that, now!” I just don’t care about 99% of what is made and released, but apparently, many people do.
In some respects Public Enemies is a well done movie. My problem is with its historical accuracy. They make Melvin Purvis look like superman when he was a bungler in real life and was replaced by Agent Sam Cowley. The Battle of Little Bohemia as depicted in the movie made for a good “shoot ‘em up”, but in reality was an FBI disaster second only to The Miami-Dade shoot out. The screen writer had loads of great “true” material but chose to embellish bigtime instead. Lastly, Depp was hard to watch without seeing Johnny Depp instead of John Dillinger.
I was wanting more out of this and it jsut didn’t satisfy. But I did enjoy the acting
All said and done, Ice Age 3 is the best among the lot.
Public Enemies was just average. Depp did well. Without him it would have been a disaster but how many remakes can we take?
