The Strokes top NME album of decade poll
New York band The Strokes’ 2001 debut “Is This It” topped music magazine NME’s album of the decade poll, beating British rockers The Libertines’ first album “Up The Bracket” into second. The result was decided by a panel of musicians, producers, writers and record label bosses. Here is a rundown of NME’s Top 20 from the “Noughties”:

Excellent selections…I think Modest Mouse could be up there, but first place makes complete sense…in fact..most of it does.
The Strokes truly deserve this accolade…and I dare say they are and will keep producing the quality they have since releasing IS THIS IT. i love it
Oh gosh, this is amazing! The Strokes definitely deserve the #1 spot. I love a lot of the albums on this list, and when I think of the many times I’ve listened to them since they’ve released it brings back great memories… I think I’m going to go listen to some of them again now.

The Strokes are Awesome!! They definately deserve that spot. They have been my favorite band since they came out and its about time more people start recognizing their talents.
Definitely the best album of the decade, the best singer, the best guitars, the best bass, the best drums, the best producer, but where is muse or the killers???

The Strokes of course changed the musical landscape in 2001 when Is this It was relased and today that amazing album still resonates as strong today as it did then.
