George Clooney: My Italian villa is not for sale!
Poor George. If it’s not his latest girlfriend the celebrity media is speculating about, it’s got to be his fondness for living in Italy.
We can empathize, somewhat, because we spend a lot of time chasing George Clooney stories — some, not so true.
Today’s latest was that Clooney was selling his mansion at Lake Como in Italy. The story was picked up in a lot of newspapers, including here. Some sites said David Beckham was going to buy it. Read one of those, here. The problem is, it’s simply not true, says Clooney.
The Oscar-winning movie star on Wednesday answered the reports of an impending sale of his home with a statement from his Los Angeles spokesman that reads:
“A story saying that George Clooney was sellig his Italian home in Lake Como and was going to by a home in Loreto Island, which is near Lake Como, has been republished in one form or another by various outlets. According to Clooney, ‘To complete the news cycle. I’m not buying an island and am not selling my house in Italy. The story was made up…then picked up…and now denied…end of another day of false news.”
Roseanne Barr is no fan of Brangelina
Comic actress Roseanne Barr makes fun of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt on her Web site blog, but its not your garden variety celebrity sniping. The so-called “Domestic Goddess” Barr tries to make political points, and in the process calls Jolie the “evil spawn” of her father Jon Voight and calls Brad Pitt “vacuous.”
Barr, who starred in the sitcom “Roseanne” from 1988-97, started off her blog post slamming actor Voight for his conservative politics. But the so-called “Domestic Goddess” soon veered off and turned her attention to Brangelina.
Barr said Pitt and Jolie make about $40 million a year starring in “violent psychopathic movies” and give away $3 million to “starving children trying to look as if they give a crap about humanity as they spit out more dunces that will consume more than their fair share and wreck the earth even more.”
In the blog, which Barr posted on Friday, the 55-year-old actress also mocked Jolie’s adoption of children from countries in the developing world, including daughter Zahara from Ethiopia.
“… do you know that the African daughter you hold in every picture had parents who suffered and died because of the Republican party’s worldwide economic assault on Africa over the last few decades since Reagan?” Barr wrote.
That statement puts her somewhat at odds with Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate she supports. At a widely viewed forum on Saturday, Obama praised President George W. Bush, a Republican, for his President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), an initiative to fight AIDS and other diseases in Africa and around the world. Bush signed a bill last month authorizing up to $48 billion to be spent under PEPFAR.
A spokeswoman for Pitt could not immediately be reached for comment on Barr’s blog post.

Holy Jolie! Those baby names are so…well…normal
You could almost hear the collective groan from reporters and commentators the world over when they learned the names of Angelina Jolie’s twins. Pencils, mine included, were sharpened for stories of outlandish celebrity baby names. OK, Jolie and partner Brad Pitt didn’t go for “Jack and Jill” exactly, but Vivienne Marcheline was remarkably restrained for the bizarre-baby-name age, and Knox Leon was only slightly more whacky.
Nicole Kidman had got people nicely warmed up with “Sunday Rose” for her recently-arrived daughter, who, incidentally, was born on a Monday.
Brad & Angie with twins? Maybe!
News arrives today that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are expecting again — and again. Twins!
Angelina has dodged all inquiries about being pregnant, but late last month when she was photographed with an obvious baby bump at the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, California, it became clear — at least as clear as it could be — that she was again with child.
