“Gossip Girl” threesome getting fans, parents all worked up

Posted by: Jill Serjeant

The upcoming threesome episode on “Gossip Girl” seems to be getting everyone’s knickers in a twist, even before the much-anticipated episode of the scandalous TV show about rich New York teens airs on Monday.BRITAIN

The TV watchdog group the Parents Television Council says the “3SOME” tryst is “reckless and irresponsible” in view of the “impressionable teenagers” that it says are the show’s main target , and has urged affiliates of the CW network not to air it.

Fans of the show however, seem to be more concerned about trying to figure out which of the fabulously rich, beautiful young things  — now out of high school and supposedly at college — will be involved in the three-way hookup.

Judging by the bed-hopping enjoyed so far by the characters on the show,  pretty much any of them could be persuaded (or maybe tricked?) into a brief menage a trois,  although we’re betting that bad boy Chuck (Ed Westwick) and scheming Blair (Leighton Meester)  will be playing a major role.

Like all publicity ,  good and bad, the PTC warning may have the opposite effect in whetting the appetite ofleightongosspi lapsed “Gossip Girl” fans to the scandalous story line.

As Britney Spears sang in her recent No. 1 single “Three” (on the same subject) “Three is a charm, Two is not the same.”

“Gossip Girl” is currently getting an audience of about 2.2 million a week, and although the CW as a whole is aimed at women between the ages of 18-34, the network says the median age of “Gossip Girl” viewers is 27 years old.

Try telling that to your teens.

Vanity Fair picks “Hollywood’s Next Wave”

Posted by: Bob Tourtellotte

rtr208ge.jpgThe young stars of U.S. television show “Gossip Girl” may soon be among the most talked-about actors and actresses in Hollywood, if Vanity Fair magazine is the judge.

Seven actors from the program, which tells about privileged teens growing up in Manhattan, were picked for the magazine’s story — posted on its Web site on Monday — of up-and-coming actors and actresses in Hollywood, including Blake Lively (pictured at right), who plays an elite New York prep school student in “Gossip Girl.”

stone2.jpgAmong others from the show joining Lively were Penn Badgley, 21, Ed Westwick, 21, and Jessica Szohr, 23. Elsewhere, other young talent deemed “Hollywood’s Next Wave” by the magazine were Emma Stone of the movie “Superbad” and recording artists the Jonas Brothers.jonas2.jpg

Back in 2003, Vanity Fair profiled numerous young Hollywood stars, including Evan Rachel Wood and Hillary Duff, and many of them went on to stardom with mixed results. Also on the 2003 list was Lindsay Lohan, 21, whose personal life took a tumble last year as she struggled with drug and alcohol abuse.

Lively, 20, who has an upcoming role in the movie “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2,” has seen her gossipy life on TV show mirrored recently in her personal life as she is now tailed by celebrity photographers.

Stone, 19, stars in the upcoming movies “The Rocker” and “The House Bunny.” Her “Superbad” co-star Jonah Hill, 24, also made the Vanity Fair story. He followed up his comedic role in 2007’s “Superbad” with a part in the film “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” this year.

Kevin, Nick and Joe Jonas — who are 20, 15 and 18 respectively — are from New Jersey, and as bandmantes in the Jonas Brothers they have toured with singer Miley Cyrus, 15, of the Disney show “Hannah Montana.”

Also singled out were: actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse, 19, whose breakout role in “Superbad” had him play a teen who gets a fake ID with the name “McLovin” to score beer for friends; actress Rachael Taylor, 23, star of the movie “The Transformers;” and actor Jay Baruchel, 26, who appeared in the film “Knocked Up.”
