Kate Gosselin goes high wire for “Dancing” finale
The “Dancing with the Stars” winner next week feels pretty much like much a fait accompli (congrats Nicole!) so producers are promising an action-packed results show and finale on Tuesday, featuring ALL the eliminated couples, and mom of eight Kate Gosselin doing a “high wire act”.
What’s more former “Bachelor” Jake Pavelka will be dancing a Viennese waltz with his fiancee Vienna Girardi to their anthem “On the Wings of Love”. And ABC says ex “Baywatch” star Pamela Anderson will perform “her hottest dance yet.”
No word on whether Buzz Aldrin will be reprising his moon dance.
Up in the air may be the best place for Gosselin, whose attempt at fancy footwork cut little ice with the judges during her time on the show. Who can forget Bruno Tonioli’s infamous “shopping cart” jibe on Gosselin’s first outing?
As for what are supposed to be the real stars of the show — finalists Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls, skater Evan Lysacek and sports reporter Erin Andrews — they will be dancing what the judges have deemed their weakest styles on Monday night.
That’s the Samba for Erin and partner Maks, the Viennese Waltz for Evan and partner Anna, and the Rumba for Nicole and partner Derek.
And on Tuesday, all three couples will go to head to head with the Argentine Tango, which they each chose as their favorite dance.
Kate Gosselin — tough day at the celebrity office.
Some days, you just can’t catch a break. Kate Gosselin, reality TV star turned celebrity mother turned “Dancing with the Stars” contestant, was having one of those days on Wednesday.
The day after she survived the elimination round on the hit television ballroom dance contest, Gosselin was put through the shredder by celebrity magazines, and her ex-husband sued her to reclaim primary custody of their eight kids.
Life & Style magazine ran this headline on their cover “Out of Control Monster!” with a picture of an obviously angry Kate. And underneath it, the subhead reads: “Screaming fits make Kate the most hated DWTS star ever.” And this was US Weekly’s cover headline: “Inside Kate’s Train Wreck” with one of the subheads reading: “How She Tortures Tony” her dance partner on the show. We can’t vouch for her behavior on “DWTS” one way or the other, but we do watch the show (read about last night’s loser here). And judging just from the looks on her face and what she says, she doesn’t seem happy. Ironically, her dance this week told a story of being chased by tabloid photographers. (BTW, her dancing could use some work, considering the low marks the judges consistently give her.)
But those truly bad headlines were just the morning’s news. By afternoon, a new headline trumped them. Her former husband Jon Gosselin — you remember him, formerly of “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ — filed his lawsuit. Jon and Kate famously opened up their lives for the aforementioned reality TV show, which led to marriage troubles, a divorce and a canceled show. Jon has turned up a lot in tabloid headlines since then, and likely made a pretty good living off his celebrity — for awhile. We don’t know much about him, but we do know a lot about Hollywood. A few things of which we are certain: fame is fickle and it is fleeting, and while a headline usually does wonders for a celebrity’s ego, for Kate Gosselin on Wednesday, they were likely just a big headache.
Amid marriage turmoil, Jon and Kate will have a “life-changing” announcement
U.S. media is becoming increasingly crowded with celebrities who are famous for being famous. Jon and Kate Gosselin are famous for having a crowded house, with a pair of twins and a group of sextuplets. But the abode of the two reality TV stars of “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ on cable channel TLC could get slightly less crowded. That’s because on Monday’s show the couple going through marriage turmoil will make a big announcement, according to a promo that circulated on the Internet on Thursday.
All the Gosselins’ children are under 9 years-old. Sadly for the family, Jon and Kate have been spending a lot of time apart since he was photographed in April leaving a club late at night with another woman. Since news of the pending announcement, the New Jersey Star-Ledger and numerous other media outlets have speculated that the Gosselins could be headed for a divorce or a separation.
The promo does not say what will happen, but it features Kate’s voice. “Recently we’ve made some life-changing decisions,” Kate says, as the words “Family in Turmoil” appear on the screen. “Decisions that will affect every member of our family. Ones that we hope will bring each of us some peace.”
It’s one thing to face a divorce in the tabloids, but another thing to have to do it in episodic television. If that is where the Gosselins are headed, it will surely raise plenty of questions for TLC about how to portray the break-up and its affect on the children in future episodes.
Several media commentators have lambasted the Gosselins and TV viewers’ interest in the their personal lives for further trivializing American culture or, put another away, making real family issues the subject of heightened TV drama. But way back in the 1930s, the Dionne Quintuplets became just as much of a sensation. Born in Canada, they were turned into a tourist attraction by the Canadian government to please a public hard-bitten by the Great Depression. They lived at a hospital called “Quintland” and later complained of abuse.
By comparison, being a child whose life plays out on television may not be as bad, but the turmoil the family has acknowledged going through would surely be hard for anyone to handle. We await Monday’s announcement.

I think Jon got the raw end of the deal. Kate has always been negative toward Jon and controlling. How can she expect person to live with that. She needs to face the reality of her actions and have another think about their realationship.
