Who’s your daddy, Chace Crawford or Brad Pitt?

Posted by: Bob Tourtellotte

Another day; another hot, hunky Hollywood actor.chace

Tuesday, we brought you Vanity Fair readers’ idea of the world’s most handsome man, Robert Pattinson, 23, (see the blog post below). So today, Wednesday, we thought Fan Fare readers might want to know who was dubbed the hottest bachelor by People magazine. He is (drumrollllllllllll), “Gossip Girl” actor Chace Crawford.

At People’s website, Crawford, 23, talks about his first kiss and the perfect date, “all you need is a pool table, beer, an electric jukebox and good conversation.”

We’re thinkin’ you might want to do more than pool and beer, Chace, but hey, whatever works. (For Pattinson, it’s a pair of fangs). You can read about Chace here.

There’s definitely a sea change afoot in Hollywood where the title “hot” is concerned. It wasn’t too long ago that those monikers belonged to the likes of Brad Pitt, Matt Damon or Johnny Depp, but those guys are, well, older now (Pitt, 45; Damon, 38; Depp 46) and dads.

pitt-and-childBut wait! There’s still hope for guys who’ve transitioned into fatherhood.

Word comes from movie site Fandango.com that they have their own poll: Top 10 sexy movie star dads! Nothing wrong with being a dad, (this weekend is father’s day in the U.S., after all). We all gotta grow up sooner or later, and it’s especially good if you’re a “hot” dad.

And who should top Fandango’s list? Brad Pitt with 14 percent of some 1000 votes, followed by Depp with 13 percent and Will Smith with another 13 percent. Damon landed at No. 7 with just four percent of the votes. Maybe he should get a better daddy publicist. Click on Fandango’s site here.

In any case, it does set our mind to racing. Do you have to be young to be “hot”? Do you have to shoot pool and drink beer? Put on a pair of fake fangs? We wonder if Brad ever takes Angie for pool and a couple of cold ones. Somehow, we doubt it.

Brangelina baby pics bring excitement, yawns

Posted by: Bob Tourtellotte

brad2.jpgBanking on readers’ hungry appetite for all things Brangelina — and the general spike in interest in Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie generated by the birth of their twins (call it the Brangelina baby bounce) – People and Hello! magazines have shelled out big bucks for their baby pics. Some reports have $11 million and others go as high as $14 million.

Whatever the price, is it really worth it?

In a quick round of lunchtime interviews outside Reuters’ bureau in celebrity-savvy Los Angeles, many people said they cannot wait to see the pictures, while others yawned at the thought. Just about everyone had an opinion.

“Exploit those kids from the beginning, I think it’s awesome,” said attorney Michael Gonzales, 30. “Why not? This is America, squeeze a dollar out of anything.”

Sarah Bates, 23, an auditor, had a far more blase attitude. She said celebrity magazines are only good to read while traveling, although she might look for photos of the twins on a supermarket shelf.  “I would just look to see, but I wouldn’t buy it,” she said.

Douglas Lee, 40, an information technology professional, said his wife subscribes to People but he doesn’t read it. He took a supply-and-demand view to the money paid for the pictures.  “It’s silly that they get that value, because it’s by demand, because the public wants to see it,” Lee said. “The amount is driven by the public.”

Attorney Lauren Brock, 30, who was eating with attorney Gonzalez, said she would brad1.jpgtake millions of dollars for her baby’s picture — and she gave her view on why Brangelina can command so much interest.  ”They a live a global lifestyle in the public eye and do it looking so great,” Brock said.

“They’re a unique family,” she added. “They’re American but they live around the world, they adopt children from all around the world, they make a ton of movies and not for working very many hours. Then, they give away a lot of it.”

Gonzales piped-up: “And she’s hot,” he said, about Angelina.

First pictures of the “pregnant man” and his baby girl

Posted by: Belinda Goldsmith

thomas_beatie.jpgPeople magazine has managed to snare the first photos of the “pregnant man,” transgender male Thomas Beatie, and his baby girl Susan Juliette. Beatie, 34, is legally male but was born female and underwent gender reassignment surgery and hormone treatment. He did, however, keep his female reproductive organs so when he and his wife Nancy decided to have a child, he was the one who conceived through articial insemination with donor sperm. Susan was born on June 29, weighing 9 lb and 5 oz.. His wife Nancy is breastfeeding the baby though a process called induced lactation.

“We know prejudice is out there, but how can anyone judge this beautiful little baby?” the couple told People magazine. The magazine did not give details of how much it paid the couple for the photos and interview.

Miley Cyrus to self: “Coolest. Person. Ev-er!”

Posted by: Bob Tourtellotte

miley.jpgIt’s not the most modest self-description, but one must remember that Miley Cyrus is only 15 years-old and a Hollywood celebrity. The singing star of “Hannah Montana” fame, has three words to describe herself “Coolest. Person. Ev-er!” she tells People magazine in a special Miley Cyrus issue set to hit newsstands on Friday, July 4. ”Really, I think I’m chill. I am very hyper but I’m very carefree.”

She also tells People her approach to life is to take things as they come. “Madonna always reinvents herself, and that’s what I want to do,” said Miley.   ”Whatever comes my way that sounds good, that’s what I want to do.   Whether it’s designing clothes or photography or whatever.”

miley4.jpgThe People interview follows a storm of controversy earlier this year after Vanity Fair magazine published photos of Cyrus, daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, that to some fans and parents seemed inappropriate for a 15 year-old girl. In one, she appeared to be topless and wrapped only in a blanket. She later apologized to fans and said she was “embarassed.”

She tells People that over the past year she’s learned a big lesson:  “I think knowing which people I can trust and being more aware of my surroundings.  I really had to work on that.  It’s like Dorothy — I’m not in Kansas anymore.  I’m not at home in Tennessee.”

And what does she have in common with the Hannah Montana character she portrays on the Disney Channel TV show? ”She’s changing up her style and that’s how I am too.  That’s how I think my real personality shines through,” Cyrus said. miley3.jpg

For the future, Miley is trademarking her name, People reported, and with sold out albums, a hit TV show and movie box office smash “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert,” Miley could even build a showbusiness empire. “I like that word. Empire!” she told People. “There are a lot of options and a lot of it is because of who I am now. I just want to become something more than what I’m known as now.”
