Long term? It’s a simple resource economy vs. a developed service economy. If we went back to butchering our natural resources like we did two hundred years ago, things would be a lot easier. Note that in the talk of world trade, the whole thing favors resource economies, especially poor farming nations, and THEN manufacturing nations…level one and two economies. America is a service economy, level three, and we still face the biggest trade barriers in the world…because no one wants to allow our services in. Eh.
